Wait for the next release to know for sure tbh. Ginrai and Optimus Prime never met so i have no scale concerns here.

    Jazz is rumored.

Unless you look at it from an American standpoint, where Ginrai IS (Powermaster) Optimus Prime. And if I ever did get one (probably won't) I'd call it PM Prime.

Of course not. They're the same guy. I'm pretending Japan doesn't exist on this one.

    You're right. But from a purely American standpoint. I'm correct. Screenshot_20240508_074831_Samsung Internet.jpg

Yes, and the only character(s) not in an American cartoon I'll get will be the Moon Studio trains. Of course I'm going to give them American names, like Railspike. Hate "human" names for Transformers. I'm going to pretend that they were there with Devastator all along.

He may not be being American centric, just viewing the figure from the context of the designs original purpose. Heck I'm cool with JG1, but this figure will be my PMOP as well.

There's currently nothing to indicate that MPG will be a smaller scale. Even the trainbots scaled decently in robot mode, and robotmode scale is what MP is about (unless it's Ultra Magnus).

In contrast, rumours are that a MP Jazz was in development and about to be announced. A release that now will be in the MPG line. But they won't redesign and scale down that design. Thus MPG Jazz (if true) will be the regular MP scale which suggest the MP scale will be maintainted.

I think many who buy this figure, at least outside of Japan, buy it because of Powermaster Optimus Prime. And anybody can use the figure they see fit. But TT designed it to be a MP Ginrai and as such they scaled it for Ginrai.

A valid question is of course: how big is PM Optimus?

In Marvel (my preferred version) when first introduced Goldbug reaches to the pelvis of the core robot, while Bumblebee only came to the knee of the regular OP. Thus either Goldbug was huge or PM Optimus his core body was smaller. (But Goldbug is also the same size as PM OP's head...) And although PM OP combined mode first is much bigger than other TF's, later he's about the same size as Megatron and just a bit bigger than someone like a carbot (but then all TF's when drawn by Wildman were of pretty similar size).

(Also, in Marvel there was a serious fuel shortage which resulted in the micromaster process, shrinking down TF's to save on fuel.)

I think that even in this smaller size, the figure can work as a correctly scaled MP PM OP.

Yeah I think there is nothing stopping you or me from using this as an MP PM Optimus Prime. While the core bot is a little bit smaller than MP10/44 it doesn't seem to be drastically shorter, based on the new images the core bot seems to be Ironhide/Ratchet, seekers, Trailbreaker size.

Also, remeber PMOP was all over the place in size. For me, I viewed him as Ultra Magnus sizewhich seems to be his height in super mode.

Marvel scale varies widely, sometimes panel to panel. The artists usually cared more about composition than exacting relative size. If they base this figure on the average size as depicted in comics and anime it'll be fine.

God damn, are you the one who renamed all of those poor Micron Booster guys for FP? Because I frickin' hated that. Especially since the job was never finished and now tfwiki is a mess when it comes to those little guys... Leave the Japanese names alone! He's Stepper, not Ricochet!

It must be exhausting being you, having to have everything American to the point of renaming things when we have a whole world of awesome Transformers out there... Ah well, enjoy. We all have different things we enjoy about the franchise, I guess.

While I do prefer pretending everyone was named by Hasbro, No, I didn't do that. I haven't even watched any TF cartoons after the Rebirth and I never read comics (not even superheroes) so I have no idea who anyone beyond Rebirth even is. Besides the movies. But I don't care about the movie characters enough to remember them.

My renaming is for my collection only.

I think there are a lot of great Japanese characters. Overlord, Metalhawk, Starsaber to name a few, I just don't think JG1 is really for me. I recognize all the things I like, no love. The larger robots (made more sense), the animation, the designs, etc. I just have a hard time connecting JG1 with the first three seasons of G1.
