I’m not sure what you mean by the feet clicking in, but a lot of people on here have complained that the feet don’t open up completely flat. What you actually have to do is make sure the heel spur clears the pinned ankle joint inside the foot when you open it up, because usually it bumps into it, making the foot look not flat.

@unmc2001 Are you also looking at the back of his lower arms and thinking: Hm, they'd look nicer in red, and maybe I could drill some holes in the front and put in some rods to get the arm cannons the G1/Valkyrie has?

And something Bobby Skull Face pointed out in his comparison (in which predicatably the TT won with a landslide, despite him preferring the FT version), but the FT has several of the details on his chest painted, and I think that would look really good here as well.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I conclude that for me to keep the MP, I'd really want to make quite a few changes. Perhaps like with the seekers, I should get the KO instead because cutting up and painting a cheaper KO feels just more right than doing this with the expensive MP.

(Too bad the MP doesn't have more screws in it so it would be easier to take apart :p )

The point going over BSF's head is that it's NOT about just being toon slavish.
His sculpt comparison goes section by section, missing the grander picture:

Which is about the highly deliberate silhouette sculpting. It's like type face or logo design, each and every line, curve, bevel and corner are
designed with profound purpose, making a style statement; like, the forearms tapering down to the elbows or the very subtle bend at the rear of the lower leg.
Had those examples been straight linework or riddled with super detailed relief sculpting, as most other Skyfire's out there, he'd lose all the character charisma.
And BSF's problem boils down to, letting oneself getting stuck with a singular idea or concept of what "cool" or "heroic" should look like. Yeah, then it becomes very likely that anything not fitting within that narrow scope, will be labeled as 'not cool', 'derpy' etc.

No doubt that FT10 was and still is a great product of its time, but that age is starting to show - and ironically (as BSF alluded to himself)
if FT were to design Phoenix today, he'd be much closer in style to MP57. Because despite the mockery Takara gets from certain enthusiast
corners of the fandom....their beloved 3P producers are increasingly following Takara's lead when it comes to styling.

" There was an attempt".....to do an objective comparison and at some point it just became F' it and became whatever. Especially when he was comparing the legs and said the release buttons gave more " character".

If anything, the extra bulky red leg panels on MP57 give it that extra distinguished silhouette and it's a stronger nod to the VF1 Valkyrie superpack.
Same goes for the feet - which on FT10 are Optimus Prime style feet; has always been an eyesore on Phoenix imo.

    Nice!

Honestly, I completly ignore the so-called "derpy" criticism. It just looks like Skyfire. Dude was a straight up gentle soul, set on science and discovery, AND was frozen in ice for the duration of the (G1 toon) Cybertronian Wars. Looking like a hardened warrior wouldn't make sense. I don't think he even raised his voice during his appearances.

    My thoughts and some pics.

    Beefcake arrival...
    20230331_111953.jpg

Overall, I'd say he's a mixed bag. I love the sculpt, proportions and articulation. He's far superior to Phoenix, who I sold way before this was even hinted.

    What a difference time makes...

But I also hate the articulation at the same time. Along with the materials and tolerances. When I have him in a neutral pose, he has the sway of a drunk person because of the play in his ratchets. Also there isn't enough ratchet teeth in any of his lower body joints. A kit could easily fix all of them, except for the ankle tilt, which is pinned in place.

The magnetic mask works as intended with his mid speech/shouting face. It sags off of his neutral face.

I hope that NuSupply makes a kit for this guy that includes a proper blast effect that plugs into both barrels. In both purple and orange.

I disagreed with most of his review regarding the look. The problem with a comparison of these two figures is you just can't be subjective at all, your either digging toon or digging the stylised look. It's impossible to have any impartiality on it really. I enjoy BSF and am subbed to his patreon, he made much better points about it in his afterthoughts video, rightly stating this is the pinnacle of this character. I am inclined to agree similar to how I see MP52. It's so close close to the toon that it just can't really be topped, and that's a massive credit to Takara.

It's nice and sad to have characters getting to the 100% buttoned off stage, but here we are.

Has anybody had a problem with one of his legs (left in my case) pushing outward on the hip joint? I can't get his to stand straight, leaning slightly. It almost seems as if the ratchet couldn't get to the innermost position. Any ideas whether this is fixable?
