Could you explain/describe how floppy they are? Iirc they're ratcheted right? I really want to pick him up but also been paying attention to this thread for any issue popping up

Hi everyone had a chance to review MP57 Skyfire this week. Great figure all around! Next week I'll be looking at MP56 Trailbreaker.

Here are a couple screen shots from my review:

    Holy freaking Batman.

Youtube is actually a terrible platform.
So these MP57 'reviews' pop up like mushrooms, many of them obviously rife with mistransformations and misconceptions about the nuances of the toy. I can already see formation of this echochamber of dismissive attitude.

And then when you try to inform and enlighten them, the effing youtube algo flags my wellmeant comments of advice as spam, ergo insta-delete.

Don't let that stop you from getting Sf buddy:)

But when you pick him up or let him stand in a standing non dynamic pose, from the knees going up, shake him, even a little they wobble. My original description in my post, wobble. So floppy might be too much hyperbole in my part.

They are ratcheted and not friction dependent like the elbow connection.

Also, compared with the Siege where it is quite back heavy, SF stands straight straight. Just don't forget, for the umpteenth time I am mentioning, to get the backpack aligned (pushed up)correctly so the blue canopy pegs with no gaps to the red part back pack.

Hips (red pattern shapes)are painted white on die-cast, careful chipping.

    Get him!

I wanted to comment but the stupid youtube algo flagged me as spam.
Friendly suggestion concerning the ratchets - specifically the outward hip movement - they actually have enough play in them to achieve a natural looking and relaxed A-stance.
Once you get the hang of that, then you'll notice that the single click ankle pivot works and the feet can be flush with the surface.
See how-to in my pictorial review: MP-57 Skyfire review

There’s quite a bit of movement between the ratchets in the joints leading to a bit of wobble overall. When mine was standing on a desk it would shimmy and shake with the slightest movement, but I never felt like it was at risk of actually falling over.

I caved and I don’t regret it. He is a beauty, but I’m also keeping Phoenix.

Thanks! That sounds very reassuring - a bit of play in the ratchets isn't going bother me.

Just one more question before I click "Buy" lol. Iirc his arms are unpainted, do you guys think there's a risk of his arms turning yellow over time?

I have an original jetfire with yellowed panels and I have seen a lot of recent Hasbro figures yellowing as well.

I used some 303 Aerospace Protectant on the unpainted bits, just in case.

Okay! Nothing felt out of the ordinary for an MP transformation. I am rewarded with super awesome robot mode and I am absolutely loving MP Skyfire so far! :)

-He's got a lot of heft, and he is solid. I don't think he's floppy in anyway because of the sheer size.

-When I transform him back to transport mode, I will be sure to make sure that chest section is tabbed correctly so the undercarriage doesn't droop.

-The feet folded out flat/fine on my first try, but I will be sure to reference this thread if I have issues. :thumb

Below- next to "Marvel Comics Jetfire/true Siege Skyfire" :p , or just Newage Firefox toy version, which I actually got a couple days ago and still haven't transformed yet.

(Sidebar--- Newage Firefox is my first Newage figure, and holy shit, posing him is damn smooth. like cutting butter or running your fingers in butter, lol! But I digress).

I so recommend MP-57 Skyfire! Handle with extreme care and 10/10! :thumb :thumb

let me preface this post by saying i’m not a takara hater, nor am i a 3p elitist. i bought every single mp mold released, and have bought countless 3p releases since maketoys giant, but have since sold off most my 3p figures because my display space only allows for the growing mp lines, but man, there’s something to be said when a $80 legends figure can be such a pleasure to pose compared to a $270 mp-sized figure. i was able to pose magic square jetfire in less than a minute, but spent a few minutes trying to fight mp jetfire, and that’s more or less the best i could do in that amount of time before giving up. i think i’ll let this quick snap speak for itself. had mp jetfire had the same articulation (and engineering, imo, even though that’s a subjective point), i’d be a lot more impressed. but his release leaves a lot to be desired imo

There are similarities on this here site and boards. BT/SV. Much different than the early days of TFW2005.
