I hope they get him ASAP! I might even pay for faster shipping just to get him sooner. But I have no other big figures on order

Well, I get Maxrawhide's sentiment; the concept of flight capability being integral part of a Tramsformer's anatomy, expressed in visual cues of the character design, both robot mode and jet mode.

But yeah, again; Skyfire's Cybertronian jetmode doesn't have the pretence of jetformers who turn into realistic earth jets. In fact, his design unashamedly distinguishes his backpack - which supposedly enables most of his flight capability (still arguable imo) by simple stark colorblocking; bright red vs stark white. And yet, in Skyfire's case it doesn't bother me as much compared to the Aerialbots, because those guys do indeed carry the pretence of realistic earth jet alt modes.
Going by TF lore, one could even argue Skyfire's anatomy design is logical since he's actually old Cybetronian design; he never got updated on Earth by Teletran1.

And finally, there's the role of the toy execution; which either strengthens or weakens the jet mode.
Some 'Skyfire's make it work, some don't; Ironically, imo one of the better Skyfire jet modes features on Mechaform's Skyguardian (despite all engineering shortcomings and all...)

Notice how the backpack sits so snug and nice onto the main fuselage, virtually gap-less. And the backpack itself has this sleek silhouette which blends in well with the overall shape of the plane.

    Why should it?

They're not engineering these toys to cater to your esoteric tastes. They're designing these toys to be show accurate. Skyfire has a giant backpack in the show, and therefor so does the toy. Simple as.

Is that mistransformed? Why does he have a single hand dangling below his cockpit?

Not mistransformed. It's one of the shortcomings...err peculiarities. The transformation scheme basically lines up both lower arms underneath, instead of side by side. Had they engineered a way to fold in the hand, it would have been very elegant. That said, I still think the overall jet mode on this one is a very nice Skyfire jet mode.

You’re not likely going to see that in the MP line, it’s something that’s more likely to be seen again in the Generations line if anything.

You must be new here. Just wait until someone pops in and says they don't like the "toon" direction this figure takes

Luckily the ugly Siege version exists for them with all of that "panel detail" that definitely doesn't make the figure look cheap.

    hi jetfire.jpg

A VF-1S Valkyrie does have a cameo in the episode "Fight or Flee." However this is not uncommon for shows animated in Japan to have little nods to other series. A VF-1 can also be seen in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos (along with a Zeta Gundam and robots from Galvion). It's speculated Jetfire was "transformed" to Skyfire because Takara always wanted the cartoon to be dubbed for Japan. Jetfire's other Takatoku-turned-Bandai companions like the Deluxe Autobots and Decepticons weren't in the cartoon. Even after being redesigned, all of Skyfire's episodes were broadcast at the end of the Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers run. In fact, the Ultimate Doom is the last set of episodes before season 3 (aka Transformers 2010) started. Two episodes with Skyfire were omitted from the Japanese TV broadcast but were dubbed for home video later. The other non-Takara Transformers like Omega Supreme, Shockwave, and Sky-Lynx were not from an anime property so could be featured as characters with no issues. In fact it's more common in Japanese anime that not every mecha or vehicle featured receives a toy. Even the likes of Gundam had many gaps in its toy and model kit lines.

If there weren't complaints about an MP, that would be a sure sign the apocolypse is upon us :lol
My favorite is still buttflap gate that erupted when MP Ultra Magnus was released. :lol

Ever since seeing Skyfire for the 1st time in the 90’s onscreen during Transformers G1 reruns on Sci Fi channel, I never expected to see an accurate toy of it. Especially after learning the history of the Jetfire toy I got in the 80’s and learning how the 2 were tied together yet looked substantially different.

It was cool to see the influence on the Energon scout Skyblast and Classics 2006 figure(which also had influence from the G1 Jetfire and the Takara Braves Jet Silver toy). Wasn’t expecting to see the Skyfire influence again but managed to show up on the 2014 leader figure.

Thought SIEGE Jetfire would be the end of it. Never thought we’d see it in the MP line and I’m glad we’re merely days from seeing it released. Dream come true for Skyfire fans and Takara didn’t even wait until the 40th anniversary of G1 to release it.

Right ? You'd think there weren't any other options available for this guy , yet there's already a PLETHORA of figures based on this one character as it is. Poor dude is going to be in dire need of his own appreciation thread once released

I'm SUPER stoked that MP Skyfire will soon be gracing my display.
He will join the 30th Anniversary Skyfire in all his shiny weapons glory, Siege Skyfire and SG Skyfire.

For a Kmart/Walmart TF collection, it is.

It has no place on a MP display, so out of place. Your money your shelves, of course, but it simply looks horrible next to MP figures. All that greeble on top of the greeble, yuck.

But that comment wasn't replying to Siege Jetfire being used in an MP collection. It was calling it ugly just because it has panel lines. I know not liking panel lines is a personal preference, but just seemed kind of unnecessary to call something ugly while saying someone else might prefer it.

Some of you really need to
For some strange reason I'm not seeing any of it...... But yeah this figure needs to release already so we can get the shipping update posts every 5 seconds. I don't like that either, but it's much better than "plane/spaceship mode bad!!!"
