yeah i can see what they're going for with it in regards to toon accuracy, but it translates to kind of a flat plank-face in the pics we've gotten.

No, I’d universally recommend @Chosen Prime !

 

You know, there are actually so many silver linings to Skyfire's troubled past as a character;
- the legal issues
- and the disjointed implementation of his character into storyline as a result of that
- the cartoon design, developed without any proper toy engineering foundation

The upside of these problems;
- Skyfire's design finally gets a definitive (read Official) fully engineered physical form
- Skyfire's character isn't bound to specific timelines in Transformers canon
- MP Skyfire's size and design aesthetic can actually fit in with more than just other MP's;
because his size and quality of animation model (or lack thereof) were so inconsistent, that
you can now re-purpose him within any collection lineup as you see fit.

Personally, I'm probably gonna have him join my Generations lineup alongside Takara's Powermaster Prime and Overlord; ergo, Skyfire as a character, survives to see the Masterforce era / 1988 / 1989 / 1990 character lineup.

 

Finally! Seems like the "price" shock and 3P comparison phase has calmed down now(after 10 pages). 

Now on the acceptance.

As mentioned in previous post, I think I'm happy sticking with my Siege, but I do think this is fantastic and certainly tempting. I did check out the UK prices and OoF! ( To be fair is probably not bad for an MP figure this size, but they will charge us around the same in £s as $s across the pond.)

Well bandai and takara are collaborating on something, I feel it's probably unrelated but it could mean a transformers x macross crossover (macrossover) could be more likely.

It does look good, transformation really simple compared to others in the MP scale of late.

 

Nice. He's a pretty simple figure but I like the features they've included.

Good to see the optional insignias and faces can store in the backpack.

Transformation is simple but elegant, yet still with some fun surprises, like how the backpack compresses. Very pleased by that. No need to go super complicated when this works just as well.

 

I wish more mps had simple simple instead of over complicating them but I imagine this was done because how expensive he'd be

 

Skyfire's design just doesn't call for anything intricate or complex, which is a good thing. That way, the budget goes into giving him neat features and keeping the price reasonable for his size.

For MPs that need the intricate puzzle designs though, I hope TakaraTomy doesn't simplify just for the sake of it.
