Not surprised and of course improvements to fix the fragile areas, might bite after I see the reviews. These KOs, some of them never stop to impress me on how the original can be expensive with major issues and here comes a KO with fixed issues,cheaper and sometimes better quality. lol

I love mp52 but if they can improve in it then it's a no brainer.

 

It's a lot cheaper to backwards engineer a figure and make a few -improvements- to it than it is to pay someone to design a figure for you from scratch. Print a resin early test shot of said figure and then go through the painstaking process of making numerous design and tolerance tweaks.

Very nice. I hope they crank out recolors so I can fill out my ranks. I'm getting the officials for SS, TC and SW but wouldn't mind a cheaper option for the others. The DS Starscream is too tall and has an overly-complicated transformation to even be an option. I also don't like that the paint gets scratched so easily. But this is good. Looking forward to seeing if it's a good KO.

Also, this may mean we have an easy option to get the coronation set.

 

i was unlucky to have weak ankles and weak knees on mine   so would be all over the ko if they got it perfect , i'm mostly lucky with the official masterpiece figures but not this time , other than that i like the look and transformation of the figure

Rather surprised they didn't do this. I prefer the aesthetics on the Deformation Space Star Scream. Primarily due to proportions, but the paint comes in at a close 2nd for me. A paint change would of gone a long way for a lot of people I think. But its a seeker so they will probably do it next.

 

At this point, I don't know why anyone would pay money for a new Takara release, other than the personal "satisfaction" of having the original. You know the quality is going to be shit, AND you know a better quality KO is going to be produced for a cheaper price. I just don't get it...

 

I assume it has to do with costs of stuff outside of just producing the figure when it comes to the quality of Takara's MPs in relation to the increasing complexity needed to go from the real world alt-modes to cartoon bot modes. Like DS-001 and other 3P has far more sturdier material than MP-52, but 3rd parties don't need to go through probably half the same stuff Takara does thanks to the legal limbo land China's laws give them.

As for getting the main MP's over 3P/KOs, it's main reasons. Preferred looks, has more of what you specifically want from a figure compared to the others, brand loyalty, a possible moral standing some have, or even not knowing they exist. Like I knew or MP's for years before I knew 3P/non-shit KOs even existed, which in all honesty is probably a blessing for all 3P fans.

 

Design and marketing isnt that much, they skimp to save money nothing else and they have economies of scale the likes of which 3p companies couldnt dream of. MP-47 was a travesty of a joke as a high end figure from a 13 billion dollar company.

 

The same was said about MP-44 KO, and that turned out to be even worse than the official... I will wait for a review...


They should add ratchets at the ankles too...

 

If they get the price right I'm definitely jumping on Skywarp and Thundercracker. I bought the MP-52 and I'm very satisfied with it... but not enough to drop that type of cash on it 2 more times lol

also would be cool if they got a coronation set available
