Considering I said my last post was probably my last, I should probably explain why I'm back. I had surgery, they got all of the cancer, and it looks like I will be okay. Still recovering, but gunna probably get back to taking commissions real soon. More on that here for anyone interested- I think I am going to live... First thing I've done since surgery, and first custom work of 2021 was this: fixing MP Arcee's chest to be more cartoon accurate using styrene and sculpt. Shoulder's probably lost the smallest amount of fairly insignificant articulation but they can do as much as a human can, as the pics show. It's not quite perfect yet. I see where a bit more sanding could make things more smooth and seamless so I will put a bit more work into it later, but figured I'd share what I did. Had to do some minor sanding under the hood to make the chest fit well in car mode, but that came out fine too. I can no longer lift the chest hood part to show the spark chamber or whatever without it raising her entire chest/neck/head section, but who freakin cares. UPDATE: Scroll down long enough and you'll run into my fix for the huge backpack too. Did some extra sanding and touch ups. Still not as perfect as I'd like, but here are some more pics. And I gave her the option of removing the ugly lower part of the backpack. Still snaps on securely and then functions same as ever for transformation and car mode, or for getting that big backpack stock look back, but can be removed for a more toon accurate look and much lighter figure. I guess the removable chunk makes a good seat for her, or cover from enemy fire, or something massive to throw at cons, or you can call it a "sled" lolol.
How hard is it to take her chestpiece off? Asking because someone REALLY needs to replicate this fix as a 3P kit. It looks so much better.
More than happy to see that you're back ! Bravo with the surgery and recovery! And that Arcee ain't so bad too =D
That looks pretty great! Any chance of getting some close up shots of how it meets up with the collar and shoulders? Oh and huge congratulations on not dying!
Excellent work, man! If TT had done this in the first place, I would have made more of an effort to get it. Someone needs to take what you've done and shove it into TT's face, similar to when a puppy screws up and poops on the carpet.
For me this is the difference between buy and not buy ☹️ Sad it wasn’t designed like this in the first place. Great work anyway.
Damn. And that barely interferes with the shoulder articulation and doesn't interfere with the transformation? That's pretty impressive and once again makes one wonder why Takara didn't do it this way in the first place. I don't think I have the guts to try this myself with a figure this expensive and I definitely don't have the hand sculpting chops to pull it off as well as you did. I'd love it if someone offered this as an upgrade kit, though.
