Mine arrived from Anime Export yesterday and it's fucked straight out of the box - door hinge has crumbled in the tray and a bunch of tiny green bits are floating in the plastic tray. At this point I don't even want to take it any further out of the packaging. And of course as it's AE I'm fucked. And I'm stuck with a pre-order for LioConvoy with them too No more MPs for me till this shit stops. It's wallet voting time.
I know we've spoken about this before but I managed to get a replacement for a figure that was broken straight out of the box from AE... so please give it a go you might get lucky. If you want their contact details again PM me. As for the rest of it, well this is just atrocious... TT really need to get their shit together. This debacle, in addition to a number of other issues I've experienced either first hand or seen on this message board has put me off pre-ordering MPs in the future. I'll wait for the release and see how it pans out from now on, TT are no longer getting my money up front.
This is sad indeed since Hound here was the 1st new G1 MP since sunstreaker? I really wanted him but holding off for now.
I think that’s a fair approach. The last thing I want to do is throw in the towel on the MP line, but I will take a more cautious approach with my orders from here - I’ll see what the early adopters say. No harm in waiting - although that approach may be tested if my most wanted is released.
This was the last MP figure from TT I 'needed'...and only because I sold Willis in anticipation for this guy. I still need Brawn, but I will get FT's and don't know if or when TT will ever get around to him. My Willis was a shelf queen and this guy made it through his one transformation and will also be a shelf queen...but I think I'm done preordering TT MPs until they develop a good track record again. What sucks about that is the initial preorder is 90% of the time or better the best price you're going to see. But saving a few bucks probably isn't worth dealing with having to send your shit back when you're not one of the lucky ones. As rampant as their issues have been of late, it's only a matter of time before you're not one of the lucky ones. And anything else I'd buy going forward would be replacing an existing figure...which I'm bored with anyhow. Oh well, couldn't be a better time to get out... Collection complete, prices getting out of hand, and QC issues an absolute mess.
I got the Make Toys Gundog toy version and I really like him. Though he’s in storage I need to get him out.
My second Hound is holding strong after 5+ transformations. Had a tiny hairline crack in the joint behind the front bumper but was able to fix it with a tiny dab of glue. He did also have a misaligned front fender that I swapped out with my first figure. The first figure I received had 2 main issues. Big crack behind the front bumper that developed after first transformation. And a tiny hairline crack in panel on the side of the jeep, just above the joint. This was there straight out of the box. My first figure's Spike also had some damage to his cheek. All in all definitely an entry in the MP line with issues, but I am currently very happy with my 2nd figure that's basically perfect.
Never buy the first wave. That's my advice. I don't think the Prime knee issue exists anymore after that first wave.
This whole situation with MP's stinks... I held off for a bit on MP-44, but then I caved, and sure enough the hip skirts on my prime are messed up with paint errors. Takara can't ask us to pay these price increases if QC will be an issue. It just isn't right.
Dang. I was thinking of buying this guy. Probably gonna pass now. So much for legendary Japanese quality.
I had a similar experience with mine. Preordered from TFSource for months and paid full price plus tax. One of the doors was broken off the hinge straight out of the box. I didn't even start the tranformation. I contacted TFSource for a refund but waiting to hear back. This sucks man.
So MP-50 is Electro, you're saying?! Anyways, yeah, over the past year I have stopped buying non-Movie Masterpieces (at least the MPMs seem largely untouched by major issues). (Well, except for MP Ghostbusters Prime, but we already know that mold's amazing.) I think the one that made it final for me was when MP BW Megatron, a $300+ toy, had reports of his entire pelvis cracking in half. How in the heck do you overlook that during QA? It seems(?) like that toy is now mostly done with major QA issues, so I'm thinking of buying it in a few more months. I want to make absolutely sure it's OK before I plunk down that much change on a toy, though.
No they didn't unfortunately, I think it was about £12 at the time (it was a smaller figure than Hound though).
you forget... and just pray that the second wave/release happens within at least three years after... Doubt it. Most likely people either just don't-know/dont-care and/or not bothering to report about it anymore.
