I wouldn't bother painting it since they will use the opportunity to burn a hole in your wallet with another zillion prime repaints. I'm already settled on getting at minimum, a black, white, blue (if it ever comes), gold chrome and toy-colored repaints
Guaranteed if they don't (possibly by accident) do this one in the deco I want they wont do it at all. I basically want it as is with silver/grey instead of white.
There hasn't been a version that had silver thighs. Only the KO of mp10 had painted silver thighs. No other version that I know of had painted thighs. Only grey plastic like mp1 and 10. The toy deco would be the closest to silver if they do one and I'm sure they will. + Versions seem all the rage these days in the MP line.
Basically all people that have handled all three Primes that consider that MP-44 is better cite the "paint and finish" as reasons why in their arguments sooner or later. It's an important part of the figure.
Exactly the same reasons I passed on MP44. I would be interested in the KO if it is priced for what MP44 really is: a good figure but not extraordinary. Just because I am a fan of OP. But my TE-01 v2 is still the best representation of the OP I have in my child's mind.
$100/£78 would be even better! hopefullyit will be like the mp megatron ko's there will be a handfull of companies making them and it will be dirt cheap
Really liked MS-01 but mine broke when it arrived. contacted MS Toys (since bought from taobao) asked for replacement parts but to no avail. It's been sitting in the box for over a year since. Now I'll be getting this as my prime.
ShowZ has it up (deposit only, tho) for pre-order: [Pre-Order] 4th Party Masterpiece MP-44 Optimus Prime Version 3.0
I went for it. Show Z has never done me wrong, and if it comes out in July I'll have plenty of time to contact them to change my address since I'm moving in a month or two. Hopefully it doesn't turn out stupid expensive by surprise
It was until about 2 or 3 years ago. At that point prices went up while quality went down. In fact, there's an entire thread strictly for TT MP-44 fixes.
Or, if it doesn't happen later today, it'll probably come up a little down the road (allegedly June or July if that rumor about the release date is to be believed). Show Z doesn't even have a price for the thing yet, I imagine they're still figuring out a lot about their first shipment of them.
That part is attached to a blue gear as seen in Jarrod's post in the MP44 fix thread: Minor/Repaint: - MP-44 General Fix Thread I'm guessing the screw that holds the leg to the blue gear may have loosened up or your gear has deformed. I actually used a small rubber band on both legs in that area you circled to get rid of most of the thigh slack but the gap I had wasn't as large as what you have. This is going to get into KO talk so the mods can move it if needed... I plan on getting the KO as custom fodder to replace internal ratchet parts and the folding hinged waist rocker assembly. I'll probably also swap out the voice box if they've add more Peter Cullen voice clips. The KO isn't a 1:1 copy as it seems to have some visual changes like the molded logo location on his right shoulder. Everytime I see that crap I can hear a drill instructor yelling "NO, NO, NO--THIS IS YOUR ASSHOLE & THIS IS YOUR ELBOW"! ANyways, the gear teeth ratio on the KO may be different because they've added die cast parts to the limbs which will probably make them heavier. SO they may go with wider toothed gears which would interfere with how well you can pose it. Ideally, those parts are a 1:1 copy but made with a stronger material. If they're not, they're not getting swapped out--I don't want to turn him into Downbeat. Also sounds like they added ratchets to his elbow? NOt sure why--I haven't heard of anyone having issues with loose elbows on him and there's an accessible screw you can tighten.
