The improvements are antithetical to the sound box - the whole point of the improvements is to shrink away the spot where the sound box would be. Still, I would love it if they did the upgraded backpack version but with the chrome from the original.

Tried searching and couldn't find anything...

Does anyone have a good way to changing the color of the robot mode windows on the MP-44 design?

Really hate the blue and want to make them into something that looks closer to the color of Missing Link C-01 Convoy (amber).

If you still want them to be transparent, replacing them is the only way. I'm a bit surprised that I haven't seen any replacement windows for MP-44... Now that I think about it. Window replacements will require pin removal unless a new frame is supplied.

I wonder if now with the toy version of MP-44 coming, will Wan Xiang do the deco on the ko? I know that won't help if you have one of the existing kos, but if it happens there could be someone willing to swap windows or a broken one gets parted out.

A good way? Not really. You have to remove the pins that the window frame are held on by - the clear plastic of the windows partially wraps around those pins. Then you have to pop off a panel on the truck side of the frames. After that, the windows will come out in two pieces. There's also another part that forms the inner edges of the truck windows but that part can be removed by taking out a screw.

To replace them, you can either cut some plexiglass to shape (I used 1mm thick lexan) or design and 3d print some in clear resin but keep in mind that clear resin tends to yellow. I guess you could also take castings of the window parts and use a pour resin but you'll want to have a pressure pot so you don't end up with a bunch of visible bubbles. And then, to give it the same frosted look as the original, you can sandblast the inside parts of the windows.

Hi all, wondering if anyone has this KO that isn’t interested in the spare Starscream head? Looking to acquire two in total.

I am interested in the upcoming XTB Ratchet, which appears to include a seeker shoulder piece, but sadly no head to go along with it. Thinking that MP44, Ratchet & Wheeljack all revealing their seeker heads would make a great display option.

Doesn't the XTB parts list call it an "adaptor for MP-52 head"? Just verifying that the head will fit.

Edit: listing says "Replacement neck joint for MP52 head swap" on ShowZ [Pre-Order] X-Transbots MX-48 Ratliff Ratchet. Same listing on BBTS

Hadn’t seen that part. I know the MP44 Starscream head is slightly different but not sure if the connection is different.

Definitely wishing XTB would provide the head so it wouldn’t need removal from MP52.

edit: looks like MP52 head only.

Modified your method slightly but my legs are rock solid now. Thanks for your help.

Did both sides. Ratchets feel better than ever. Also lubed everything from the waist down with shock oil.

Dremel Bit? Idk just used the smallest I had.
You need to drill very close to the existing screw so the hip flaps can still move freely. As long as you've got the joint together(screwed in and lined up) and you drill appropriately where the dot is, it's pretty doable. The screw i put in was the thickness of the shin screw and about 2x the length. You could easily use longer ones and just snip the excess off though.

Very good fix indeed! Much less overkill than my solution which was 3D printing that part with a more rigid plastic!

I recently got an official MP44S. The legs on my silver-leg KO hold together better than the official (that little triangular flap on the back of the legs on the official doesn't mate up flush on the TT version).

Before I hit ShowZ store, does anyone have a pair of the chrome smokestacks from one of the earlier KO versions they may be willing to part with? I’ll take the full arms, you don’t have to pin punch the stacks out… trying to finish a project I’m working on

Sweet. I was not expecting a diecast insignia.

His wrists were absolutely terrifying. Glad I keep shock oil in my desk.

So I have a funny complaint. I've been eyeballing V4 thin backpack version for a while, but already have the silver leg version. I said to myself "I'll upgrade once the silver leg fails." It has not failed. Still holding strong and that's with little ones playing with it regularly its still fine :lol .

Love my V4 but still not brave enough to transform the bugger. IMG_20231021_103538.jpg IMG_20231021_104116.jpg IMG_20231021_110424.jpg
