So for the sake of adding a data point, I have transformed Megatron to Robot mode 3 times now and beast mode twice. He's currently posed in Robot mode, and I wasn't being particularly careful with the legs.

While the crotch does have the same lines that nearly everyone seems to have, they don't seem to be reacting to moving the legs as of yet. They still feel flush, as far as I can tell, and don't seem to be getting worse. I'm going to key an eye on it. I will be 100% totally heartbroken if it breaks. I can only afford these figures by basically pooling together birthday and holiday money together each year, and so that means if he breaks I can't really replace him. So I'm playing with him right now in the hopes if he does break, it's while Amazon will still replace him.

Though i will say, my Cheetor *did* break, but I was able to sell the figure for basically what I paid for him anyway, and that paid for the replacement figure. So if it does break, I might just be able to pull that off with Megatron if the demand for the figure remains high enough.

However, for the moment the figure seems to be doing just fine. I reallly hope it stays that way.

And here it is, the moment I've been waiting for. The inevitable shift towards some QC issue that nearly impossible to tell if it's a real issue or something people are blowing out of proportion. I don't open my MPs for a while after getting them but I do come back and check the threads on the figures a week or so after release.

Dinobots shoulders, Ironhides shoulders, Shadow Panthers shoulders, this crotch... Can we just get a release that doesn't require me to do a few hours of research into whether or not I should just open the damn guy without having to prepare for some problem?

Honestly? Probably not. There are thousands of figures being sold, and hundreds of people visiting this forum. Even if only 0.5% of figures are affected by some sort of factory error, you are going to hear about it. And as soon as you hear about it, the question inevitably becomes how prevalent it is. There just doesn't exist a perfect factory, or a perfect product. No matter what, this sort of scare is basically always going to happen. It will just take time to determine whether it's a mass problem, or a small scale thing. Only time can answer that (unless everyone's is broken out of the box).

The best strategy, at least if you got it from Amazon, is to open it, play with it as much as you can and if you find a problem on yours return it. Otherwise keep it in the box, wait a year, then ask around to see how big an issue it was in retrospect.

Bit early to say GPS...hopefully it's just a manufacturing process byproduct rather than crappy material causing brittle plastic. That said, I've seen and own modern figures with this swirly plastic that basically covers the entire figure and they are some of the strongest I own. If anyone owns some of the planet X figures they'll know what I'm talking about. I don't want to jinx myself or others, but I dare say that the "issue" whilst in a precarious position on MP 43, it's just the usual odd QC issue people will run into and not a wide spread problem.

That's unfortunate. I'd try and get it replaced or at least ask for parts, if Takara even do such a thing...

...Forgot to add, my Megs is problem free. And he's glorious :rock

Looking forward to your thoughts Booster Gold.

Just watching some good old season 1 BW again, they did such a great job with this MP.

Will most assuredly pick up another, one day down the line. Worth it twice!

He's here! I'll be back in an hour or so!

Edit: feeling a little bit of reluctance to crack open the box. Right now he is schrodinger T-rex...he is neither perfect or fatally flawed until I pop the tape.

    Finally...... image.jpeg

    "Ulp.........."

I'm with @Booster Gold on this, I don't have time to open him up until this evening, so he's perfect......for now.

Maybe I'll get Primal to stress test him by kicking him in the junk repeatedly.
