Yeah now that I look at it again it does look like a trick of light, but I swear last night in my tired state it looked separate. Good call on that fold-away panel holding the autobot symbol, that makes sense. I think the last time you mentioned that I got confused as to which mode has which symbol so I didn't understand!

MP-10 is not screen accurate in either mode. At all. But it is an awesome toy, and that's what's important. If Bumblebee is an awesome toy, it won't bother me that he isn't chibi or whatever.

Yeah, it's weird that I prioritize cartoon accuracy but MP-10 is my favorite in spite of my cartoon fixation. Hasui knows what he's doing.

I checked out this Nippon Yasan website as I had never heard of them -- the pricing with shipping seems to be inline with AE's. I'd use them as an alternative if AE is out of stock.

    ^
I pre-ordered Bee and Wheeljack as well with multiple quantities for friends to save abit on shipping =)

    Apologies for slight derail

Huh? Apart from a few white/gray discrepancies, windshield wipers and lights, and a original-toy-present white stripe on the truck that moves to the arms, it's definitely more spot-on than not. Anything beyond that was tweaking some design quirks caused by underpaid animators.

    Back on topic....
ANNNND A-E PREORDERED! Now I can save redirect $25 from by BBTS preorder and put it to DOTM/AOE Mirage instead!

I think it's because MP-10 represents the IDEAL of Prime as we remember him. Hasui was pretty clear he wasn't going for screen accuracy so much as capturing the essence of the image and character...if that makes sense. And with MP-10 he really captured it.

The legs and head were not designed to recreate the G1 character model either. Hasui said he could've had Prime's wheels fold completely into his lower legs to hide them, but didn't bother, and his shin vents were never silver. Prime's head as well as his gun storage (which I'm crazy about) take a lot of cue's from EJ Su's early IDW TF work. Not complaining. Like I mentioned earlier, he might be my favorite. Yeled pointed out he represents an idealized version of Optimus Prime more than anything and I think that's spot on. That said, I wouldn't mind an Optimus Prime v3 that's the most screen accurate yet. I'm sure that'll happen eventually.

Yeah you need to pay via Paypal within 48 hours I think with AE. Check the e-mail they sent you. After I ordered my Bumble I paid right away. Otherwise I think they'll cancel your order.

I gave up waiting for HLJ and decided to go with Anime Export. I would have preferred HLJ, but oh well. I just hope my order goes through and does not end up getting cancelled due to lack of stock.

I'm am so on the fence about this bee. I'm going to wait until the dust settles and I see a couple video reviews and then maybe I will pick up the second or third production run. That car mode looks good though. I love me some realistic transformers that are like scaled down model cars.
And hey, since Bumblebee is so popular, maybe toysrus will get him.

pretty sure TRU will eventually have him but at 41usd + ship for a tak version, you won't really lose out. Say the TRU version comes out at 29.99 to 34.99 + tax, you're only paying a bit more for a Tak version. If you really regret your Tak purchase, it wouldn't be hard to sell him to break even.

you did the right thing. If you don't pay for a preorder within 48 hrs they cancel it. You pay shipping when it comes into stock.
