Hello everyone, I'd like to pick up a plus version of the Datsun mold, but I'm having difficulty in choosing one. I don't have a strong attachment to any of the characters but really want to pick up a version of this mold. Im searching through reviews on the feedback / reviews forum and thought I would pose the question in this forum. Would love to hear the opinion of others - thanks!
In terms of value-for-money I'd say MP-17+ offers the least. The toy-accurate launchers are cool, but don't make a lot of sense paired with an anime deco. Apart from that, he doesn't even come with any effects parts or spare faces. And for some reason he has a movie Autobot insignia (the one with the furrowed brows). Actual effort was made with MP-18+ and MP-19+. They each come with alternate faces - yelling and smiling alongside the stock neutral. They also have entirely new heads, which means they have ball-jointed necks (limited range, but still nice to have). Bluestreak has a matte paint job and comes with blast effects pieces (which can be used with MP-44 too, comes with an adapter for that purpose). Those blast effects also fit well on the guns of Grapple and Tracks, if you have either of those two. Smokescreen has a glossy paint job and a cool smoke effect. Personally since the T-roof is actually moulded in on every version of this mould, I think it's nice to get the figure that actually uses it properly - so MP-18+ would be my choice. To me he's also the quintessential Autobot. 19+ looks pretty great too though, can't go wrong with either one. Prowl deserved better from MP-17+.
I have to echo @Sam that I'd go with 18+ or 19+ just because they did a bit more to them than 17+. If you want 17+ it was nice that they put in the missile launchers with it, but overall it is just the same old mold with different paint.
I personally think that the re-releases of these molds are dumb,I hate the new direction that taker's going with the MP line now and days. So while the idea of re-releasing the original molds with some extra parts is cool,the new cartoon paint job isn't
Does anyone happen to have +Bluestreak with regular Prowl and Smokescreen? I always found the original Bluestreak kinda boring, but have been intrigued by the anime version, but want to know if he'll look right with what I already have.
If you like glossy paint get smokescreen If you like matt paint get blue Streak If you like bad paint get prowl
I needed a better MP Prowl because of the QC issues with the Hasbro release that I had, and so, MP-17+ seemed like an easy option. Then I noticed that his insignia is the newer movie insignia. Don't be like me. (Just get MP-17.). I personally like MP-18+ for the faces.
I third the notion on what both Sam and Scowly Prowl have suggested. Because MP-18+ is pretty much the Kirk Lazarus of the Masterpiece line.
I bought Bluestreak + because I thought he looks really classy in the anime colors and I wanted a toy of the MP Datsun mold.

Nice choice! Forgot to add to my list that MP-19+ did also go to the effort of having brand new shoulder weapons, which now integrate in transformation. That was a nice touch.
