I absolutely need this. And the normal one for alt mode.

 

I don't have Red Alert so this is a must have!

 

So to clarify, this is strictly a re-paint? There are no actual physical changes to the mould?

In that case, I would expect Takasa Tony to roll out a KO of this before the end of the year.

I'm torn as Red Alert is the only official G1 Toon MP missing from my collection so far(I don't include exhaust or Road rage or those other comic characters, and neither Star Saber or SoundBlaster are part of MY G1 so they're out but I have everyone else)
I like the look of this and need the character, but TT Mall and Tenso looked like a complicated and expensive process for those who ordered Ramjet... decisions, decisions...

 

Easy pass for me, never had any interest in the character. Great news for those that do though.

 

I like the white tights on Alert, but I'm afraid that if replace my Red with this one, then I eventually would want to replace half of my MP Carbots. And I don't want to go down this road. Especially after quality issues with Ramjet I'll try to avoid Takara Tomy Mall Exclusives.

I’m happy with my current MP’s and I don’t want to replace them or buy another versions with minor color changes.

 

Dont own this figure so its an easy buy for me.

Working out at about £53.99 (probably closer to £60 after import\tax etc) still good enough mould to complete the lambo collection for me.

 

I think that was always a given. (although having seen the mold I'm glad I grabbed Quakeblast instead) Takara love repaints (and they help pay for the line). That repaint is probably more obvious thatn the color they went with and I really can't think of any Non-Shockwave Shockwave repaints.

 

I miss some of the metallic paint from the original and some of the small black detailing on the rear of the vehicle mode, but I might have to pick this up. MP collection can be counted on one hand right now and I wouldn't mind rectifying that.

 

Side by side this actually makes the original Red look pretty tempting. Not sure about the dull white on the new version, or the smoky windows.

If this sets a new precedent for anime repaints maybe that means original releases will start to err more towards real-world/toy colours... Which works for me. Shame it's too late for Shockwave.

 

Now we go into moneymilking overdrive!

The next TF show has to be named Moneymilkers  , which features the Overdrivers versus the Criticons,  

 

Easy pass. The original is better; and will probably have better QC

 

Tempting since I don't have the original and the white thighs look way better, too bad it's a TTmall exclusive. Pass

Looks good, but I don’t care enough about Red Alert to pay the TT-Mall price. Would it be a regular retail release I would’ve been tempted, but this is an easy pass.

Still great for the people who want a Red Alert MP though.

 

I wonder if this version will be able to hold his gun?

 

This probably means new versions of Wheeljack, Bluestreak and Bumblebee.

i hope wheeljack receives this treatment as well. though i imagine there might be some licensing implications with doing him?.. i'm not sure how it all works, but i can still hope.

either way, they're both great molds that i wouldn't mind owning another of each.

I understand white thighs and so on. Robot mode is a n improvement.

But... That awful simplified altmode... It looks like a cheap unlicensed Ko of a Lambo. I hope it's not a precedent for regular releases, it screws all the real cars project... Also, I'm a bit worried by the lack of paint apps (especially metallic paint) in recent MPs...

But it's a bit early, maybe it's just a coincidence...

 

Looks neat! Though I think i'd rather a cartoon deco Wheeljack instead
