Hmmm… if I have the money I may get a backup copy. Soundwave is a favorite character of mine and I love MP-13.

Already had to replace Lazerbeak once due to my original copy’s wing breaking. Wouldn’t mind having an extra full set on hand in case something else gives out.

Can’t find it now, sorry. Cheapest right now is RK but shipping will jack that up. Among NA retailers lowest is TFSource for $150.

Generally I think TT avoid using figures that haven't yet been released on the back-of-packaging pics. That's why MP-21 is on the back of 18+'s, despite MP-45 being announced a few weeks after. Since MP-14+ wasn't out at the time of Inferno's release, they didn't need to put him on the box. Also it's more attractive to owners of the regular MP-14 - "hey here's a new guy that looks great with your old guy!"

In fact I think the only exception to this rule has been having MP-44 on the back of MP-45's box. But generally they've never been ones to say 'this older version is inferior', in magazine spreads, the MP-44 shots, and even the recent exhibit at the Doll Museum, they're using older MPs pretty liberally.
I'd kinda prefer they just used the 'toon' accurate ones as much as possible, since that's how my collection looks, but I guess everyone isn't as strict as that, so TT don't need to be either.

So do these prices look comparable to the original Japanese runs of MP-13? I'm curious if this actually is a Takara release.

I've always wanted this guy, but aside from not having money to spend on figures, those toothpick thigh joints have always scared the shit out of me.

You're probably right, but it's also often felt like they just used whatever they had laying around, whether for photos or shows!

As far as Soundwave's price, iirc I got him both in '13 and the last reissue from a year or two ago for around $130 shipped from AJ. I would think a 2.0 would cost as much as MP-44, having the obligatory high parts count & full paint coverage, also electronic sound effects, s1/s2 heads, energon cubes, and at least the original four Cassettes (Ratbat would probably still be saved for the Soundblaster repaint).

They do look and feel scary, but I've never seen a report of breakage there. The plastic used on that joint is really durable with a bit of give, not the brittle, fragile stuff used on Ravage and Laserbeak.

So, good time to ask this: I've never ordered from Robotkingdom because the non-secure part of the site seems odd to me. It's not encrypted over HTTPS. What's up with that?

I have the Hasbro release already so I'm not interested in paying $149.99 w/tax plus shipping (because for both TFSource and ToyDojo you won't get free shipping - it's one penny under the minimum).

Good to see it make a return, I can't think of anything I'd change for an update. It's right up there as one of the very best MP toys in my opinion.

My friend Sophie may just end up getting one for Christmas... :)

Ah good, I\'m pleased to hear this! Still need to add the this classic Deceptigoon to my collection, so it\'s nice to get another shot without secondary market prices!

This is a great figure, but there are now so many (good quality) KOs of this figure (plus all of the cassettes), that I would recommend those over this right now.

Still, it\'s surprising that they didn\'t just paint it in pure \"anime colours\", this time around.

I agree sometimes the choices seem downright random.

So it's possible that this MP-13 is a Takara reissue? I reckon it's strictly Hasbro Asia though. The announcement coming via Weibo, no signs of anything from Amazon Japan or any other Japanese retailer - this is definitely not how TT do things. If anything, @TTemploy probably would've given us a heads up.

Oh no doubt v2 Soundwave's price would be way up there. The only thing I would hope is that they keep the same energon cube design, I've got a pile of them mounting up on my shelves!

If there going to bother reissuing this figure they might as well repaint it in a more cartoony color scheme to match the newer MP\'s.
