BBTS has all 3 MP-11 coneheads for $99 each. Are they worth it?

I wish I had bought them for that price. I still feel bad about paying $170 - $180 for each one. Doubt I'll ever be able to recoup that outlay.

If you like the mold and don't mind a bit of mold fatigue, you'll like the figs. I don't like the "butt dangle nosecone" feature on them, but the head sculpts are really very nice.

As the post above me states, the qc isn't the greatest, and I dont feel they were worth the near $600 I paid for them, but for $99 each, I dont think you would be disappointed with them

They could be better but they could be a lot worse. That’s not a horrible price for them, I paid more for sure.

Given that a Starscream V3 is inevitable and the likely repaints and conehead remolds would come from them, it may be worth waiting. Although, on second thought, each will probably cost upwads of $300, so it's probably a better idea to just buy these

Yes, at that price, definitely worth it.

Don't get me wrong they have their issues. I personally like the MP-11 seeker mould, but still felt seriously let down by the Coneheads. But that was at full price. Half the Original price is definitely worth it.

Ramjet has the issue of a shoulder miss assembly (there are instructions on YouTube how to fix this). Thrust has a very loose waist (resulting in the only seeker with good waist articulation), which again can be fixed. Dirge has no issues.

If you have the regular seeker and you put them together, you'll be surprised how much TT remoulded for these releases. They look like the same base mould, but I suspect only half is reused. Sadly, they didn't do enough. The MP-11 feet are a step back from the MP-03 feet and wrong for the Coneheads. And although all seekers have the nosecone hanging from their back being visible between the legs, this is even moreso the case with the Coneheads. They have issues that could've been fixed easily enough in the design stage.

But still, I found it great to see how the mould looked the same, but was still different. And the faces are great.

I think another big pro is: this is it. If you want official only, then these will be your (likely) only option for official MP Coneheads. We may or may not get a new Starscream someday (but it will be very expensive), but considering how it went with MP-11, a new Skywarp and Thundercracker aren't that likely. And the Coneheads (with remoulding and everything) are even less likely. If you want official, this is likely it.

All the QC issues have been mentioned above, except for the left/right engine/blaster issues for some. That meant that for those figures with "sided" thruster or blaster accessories, some received two left sided ones, or two right sided ones, leading to many trying to find someone on the board to trade with to get the matching pair. It seemed quite rare.

The engineering is quite old, but still works. There were compromises in the Seeker mold, and the Coneheads seemed like a bit of an afterthought, but they did the best they could with what they had, and to give TT some credit, they actually finished the group, unlike Grimlock, the carbots, and just about any Minibot. I like the Coneheads aesthetic, and their face sculpts are spot on. There are 3P offerings, but this is as good as it gets from TT, for a while. V3 Seekers are possible, but given the leaps in price, and the fact that you need at least six to complete the line, that's going to make a re-do of the Coneheads a distant possibility at this point.

$99 is great value, if you can get it shipped to you cheap.

The only thing bad about that price is that they didn't start at that price.

Or will the more complicated engineering required to make a cartoon accurate Starscream make it more difficult to produce Coneheads from the mould? If the Coneheads sold so poorly this time around will they bother making them again?

It's why I decided to buy Thrust, and I'll pick up Dirge sooner or later, despite having sold MP-11 years ago.

The biggest deterrent of Conehead sales was the price of what you were getting. $200 for a minor retooled exclusive left a lot of people bitter. Especially as KOs were present or closely lurking. Plus, starting off the run with incorrectly assembled Ramjets didn't help.

That's another good point - the retools weren't as minor as all that. Enough new parts that gave me vibes of 'this is as good as we're going to be able to give you'.

At that price, yes get them.

IMHO, I think they're garbage though. Especially after the later MP molds. The feet look terrible and the leg possibility is horrible.

It's my personal code to buy official when I can for figs, thus why I have them.

I got my Ramjet for 40. I was fine with the shoulder issue as I wasn’t going to transform him. He’s a little floppy, but for that price it still looks gorgeous. As for Dirge, I got him for 100. Much more solid than Ramjet, and just much better even in the looks department.

It is a matter of personal preference. 100 is fair but far from a bargain.

There are many alternatives in the 3rd party market

I still love the Toy World Coneheads. I consider them to be the muscles of the Seekers sense they aren’t particularly bright. Hence why they are a bit taller then the main three Decepticons .

Buy the Takara seekers and cone heads keep them in jet modes, buy the Maketoys seekers and come heads for bot modes if it is within your budget.

I would say....absolutely not. The only one that didn't have QC issues was Dirge, and in his case he had upside down tabs in his wings. Given their price then, even 99 bux is too much to ask.

Take that money and spend it on the inevitable newer versions. These coneheads were a big miss...be thankful you didn't shell out the big bux for them.

Zero issues? Either you are willfully ignorant or very understanding and leniant. You win, either way.
