Unlike his Autobot counterparts who are both matte red, Black Convoy is glossy black. As expected there's no trailer but he has a blood-red Dead Matrix, similarly red energon axe and black collapsible gun. It's a predictable repaint but it's done very well with the upper legs, cabin and torso stripes and leg vents having a slight bronze color in addition to the green waist and wrist details and the red truck/chest windows. Like MP-10, everything's tight and firm, where my Hasbro is looser in some areas such as feet, hips and shoulders. MP-10B's right index finger did pop off which hasn't happened before, but it popped back on easily. A collector's card is included, but no coin. This is an outstanding mold and this repaint does it evil justice.
Don't wait. What's the worst that can happen? You get an awesome figure for import retail? Hardly a bad thing. Conversely, you could wait a few months until it sells out and pay $300. Just sayin'. I know...you're all saying, 'But, I could wait a year and pick it up for $20-$30 off!!!'. Is a $20-$30 discount worth the risk? You tell me.
I prefer the dead red eyes to the bright red. I have to say I don't really know much about the 10bs background though. That would help me decide if I wanted him bright eyed or more undead looking.
Hot dwag! Thanks for the review! I'm really on the fence with regards to getting this because I don't collect repaints but I really like this mold! Good work on the repainted eyes...makes him more...er, evil?
If it helps, the collector card lists his function as "Destron Unicronian Herald" which to me suggests "dead eyes". He's probably the same, previously seen G1 Nemesis Prime.
I hope i can double dip this guy, if weren't for the FP bruticus i can. lets just hope this is still available till the year. nice collection of mp10 bro,
The "evil" deco doesn't enhance the MP-10 mold. It's just a bit... plain. The glossy black screams agile, but that doesn't suit Optimus. The best things about him are the cyan highlights (which I wish there were more of) and the blood red windows. I guess I wish the figure looked more like RiD Scourge, who to me still has the best black Optimus deco ever. And call me crazy, but it almost seems like MP-10 and MP-10B should have their thighs swapped (the darker ones going to the darker figure).
I would have jumped for it if it had: -a collapsible red sword that fits in his back. -eyes painted red -slightly remolded more scourgy head. -scourge style windows and shoulders.... oooohhhh.
If you collect black primes don't sell mp1b but if you don't then by all means replace if you really like the mold.
I really want to get this guy but I dont have the mp10 mold but his price is a litle steep for not coming with the trailer. Are their any sites selling him for less than $150?
