That's an option too then! It's probably just because of how phone cameras have to rotate, so you need to manually update the data on orientation or something, whereas a screenshot of a screen wouldn't have that problem. What do I know, though.
Lovely pics. Starting to make me reconsider whether I should skip it or not. No, my resolve is strong. I’ll hold out, hopefully...
Just quick pics with my phone, there's something about it that just pops. I had low expectations, this figure is awesome. I didn't have an mp-10 so I'm glad I waited for this!
If there is any criticism I can level at the figure it is just that the mp-10 mold had a head that isn't big or square enough. Prime from the movie had a good big square head, not the softer rounded chin that later toys had.
I would like to know if the cell shading is done by hand or it is something like texture printed. this is important because if done by hand the possibility to get a lemon is high I suppose
My thought is that it's all done by hand but using templates and stencils. Pretty sure these are existing MP-10 KO's that are disassembled and painted (or possibly painted before asembly) and it seems unlikely to me that KO factories would have the facility to do any fancy automated painting or printing? It's most likely that stencils are made up for each of the two cell-shading colours on each piece (ie: a pink cell shade stencil and a brown cell shade stencil) The red parts of the figure are first base coated in red, allowed to cure, then the first cell shaded colour is applied with a stencil, its cured again, then second base coat stencil, another cure, and possibly a final top coat. You can see how the edges of the brown and some of the pink are kind of blurry/uneven in @kojacker pics. Likewise with the windows it's clear that they first applied the dark blue, then the light blue on top then the white over the top of that. I could be wrong but that's the process that would make the most sense to me for a limited run KO. So in a sense they are painted free hand, but the stencil ensures the markings are roughly consistent in size, shape and placement. At least, that's my guess
Great explanation and thank you for the closeups. I am really thinking about getting it... Do they already started to ship?
yep. Several people have theirs and others are on the way. Not my pics - mine is still enroute to me.
From a distance, MP-10 head does look more round than I believe it should be. I think that MP-01 did a better job at keeping the more square look.
Quality wise it's ok, nothing fenomenal. The paint job is good, but I think that this is a stock KO mp10 repainted (minor paint chipping on the toolboxes / gas tanks / whatever they are, revealed silver paint). The chest won't close with the Matrix inserted. Extending the legs from truck to bot it's a pain.
I have this cell shaded Optimus & Starscream on my wishlist @ Show.Z, just haven't pulled the trigger on either yet. I would really, REALLY love a cell shaded Soundwave like Optimus, Soundwave has always been my fav.
