Hi. Getting back into TFs again. Been looking everywhere for MP-10 most sites says 'not in stock' and prices on eBay are a joke.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

I would post a thread in the Wanted section saying you are looking for one. I was able to get a Hasbro MP-10 a couple months ago for $200 shipped, and I've seen a few more for sale for around that much.

Also, I believe Takara is putting out another re-release sometime next year, so if you're patient you could probably get one then.

You'd have to be ridiculously lucky right now to find one under $200, Hasbro or Takara.

Is the scarcity the reason why even the Hasbro one jumped up to the Takara price??

I also recommend Year of the Horse Optimus, he is a great alternative that is 50%-70% less expensive.

This isn't confirmed anywhere, but since Hasbro has reset their MP numbering system, I think that they will eventually re-release a more cartoon-accurate version of the mold with a new MP number, as they did for Grimlock.

A MORE cartoon accurate? No no ... They ready made MP-01, the standalone figure days are over -- so they made MP-10 with scale in mind. They're not going to re-RE-do Prime again, I guarantee you; especially since MP-10 is pretty flawless.

If anything, they will RE-release MP-10 in the US under a new number (not a new mold, just a reissue). "MP-10" - the name in itself - is so iconic that they may make him the US MP-10 as well, since the have a lot more MP's to release stateside (Prowl will be MP-04 - then there's still Sunstorm, Streak, Smokescreen, Sideswipe and Starscream)

The problem for a guy like me is I look at YotH/Bathing Ape/Evangelion Optimus and my brain says "That ain't Optimus!" If you're already spending three figures on a toy, I say go all out, do it up right and get the one that's going to satisfy you every time you look at it on your shelf, which may be for many many years, not some arbitrarily colored stand in or substitute.

I may not have been clear - I didn't mean that Hasbro will release an entirely new Optimus mold -- I meant that I believe Hasbro will release another MP-10 mold, probably with a deco that's very close to their original ToysRUs exclusive, but with some minor, potentially more screen-accurate changes.

Just as the Hasbro reissue of Grimlock as MP-3 got rid of the G1-toy specific paint apps (albeit with with more blue/green chest and neck plastic), I think a re-issue of the Optimus mold under the new numbering system will be cartoon accurate but with some minor changes to differentiate it from the original Hasbro release.

The Takara reissue was never confirmed, but even if it is true I seriously doubt it will go for less than $250.
