The G1 Megatron toy was able to grasp the sides of his gun via the same little handles. The scope combined with his stock and silencer. MP-05 doesn't have a scope or silencer. The presence of the handles suggests a double-dip sometime in the future. Although Just It Toys seems to have made a reasonably high-quality bootleg.
Ecellent! my question was answered! the handles are essentially worthless! and I do love my MP05 Upgrade kit...
The g1 Megatron has the same pegs, but they are not the ones that he holds when his scope is combined with his stock. Those are completely separate pegs alltogether. As for what the pegs on his scope are for I still can't figure it out.
The pegs on the scope are for the microman sitting in the turret. http://www.tfsource.com/Reissues/MP-05 Perfect Edition/mp-05-perfect-edition.html You'll see that the short piece of the shoulder stock is now at the rear of turret at an angle. A microman toy would sit there and hold the handles coming out of the scope.
Yeah, they were for Micromen. What the heck they're doing on MP Megs, well, my guess is as good as yours.
Because if they weren't there, someone would complain? They probably planned at some point to include the rest of the parts with mp-05, but then didn't.
