Hello all. I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I'm not a hardcore collector by any means, though I have been curious about MP-10 Convoy for some time. The problem is, I already own a complete MP-01 Convoy. While I don't feel a need to own both, I'm having a problem deciding which one. Would MP-10 Convoy be worth selling my MP-01 Convoy? Is one better than the other, about the same, etc? Should I just keep MP-01 and buy an IGear Trailer to complete him? Or should I sell my MP-01 to get an MP-10?

So the question I have is simply which one is better? What makes one better than the other, worse than the other?

I have Takara MP-04 and Takara MP-10. MP-10 IMO is just more fun to transform and pose and transform again etc than MP-01. Plus the MP-10 cab mode with trailer reminds me more of the G1 Optimus Prime than MP-04.

I'd say, since you don't have the trailer for MP-01. I would give serious thought to swapping it with MP-10 (hoping you can find one at retail).

    Cheers

Get both, MP-01 is something that will be time less, even for being near a decade old it blows most of toys out of the water. MP-10 is a nice improvement and a very nice figure.

    Keep both I say.

I love having a big Optimus, and MP-01 is great in bot mode, but MP-10 blows it out of the water in truck mode. MP-01 always looked like a bit of a jumbled mess in truck mode for me. Also like having something that scales with the new MPs a bit better. My MP-01 and other versions will eventually have their own little area with MP-05.

    some pros and cons

mp-10, more accurate, poseable, complete package with the trailer, roller, and spike to give it a diaclone bonus, smaller

mp-01 overkill on diecast, transformable statue, just the cab, some extra accessories, bigger

overall, mp-10 hands down, but my 01 and 05 will be on a shelf together for a long time

Good question. It really comes down to what u prefer. MP-01 has some really cool gimmicks that the newer version doesn't. Wrist communicators, moveable mouth plate, light up Matrix, diecast Metal ( EVERYWHERE ), not to mention independent shocks! While MP-10 has none of those, he does feature a more accurate overall sculpt based on the cartoon. Also he comes complete with his trailer as well as a spike figure an roller! They both have there bonuses. An although MP-10 isn't metal, he's scaled to go with other figures of the same line to look as toon scaled as possible. If you like accuracy, an you want a complet Prime, I'd say go with MP-10. Although if you don't care for the trailer an you love diecast, MP-01 is rigt up your ally.

Edit. Sorry. Read over the part that says you already own a MP-01.

I think MP-01 has a better looking bot mode. As a stand alone fig I'd probably keep him. If you're collecting MP figs, though, MP-10 goes better with the line.

Having just gotten MP-10 (Hasbro)... sell the crap out of MP-04.

MP-10 blows it out of the water. As previously mentioned, while Prime is smaller and lacks a few minor gimmicks, it's still head-and-shoulders above the mold. It's more posable, unlike the original who as people said is a posable statue. He looks GREAT just standing there majestically, but... that's about it. MP-10 has better proportions, posability, accessories (... Roller alone >>>>>> Megatron pistol), and is all-around the better figure.

Plus you can get more for MP-04 so... you'd have a net profit and the better figure.

EDIT: Sorry, misread the topic. I assumed you had MP-04, not MP-01. You won't be able to sell MP-01 for as much as MP-10 costs, but my point remains. MP-10 is better. Especially since MP-01 is just... well... deficient.

Thanks guys! Now I guess the next question would be how much could I sell my MP-01 Convoy for? Aside from missing his box and Megatron gun (they somehow got lost in my last move) he's complete and in excellent condition.

I have both and like both. If I had to keep one I'd keep MP-10 because he scales better than the rest of the line. MP-04 towers over MP Grimlock which he should not. The only thing that sucks right now is that we don't have a new, smaller MP Megatron. If that ever happens I may decide to sell my MP-04.

I have mp-04 and I myself will never let him go.In bot mode he just fucking stands out and that's what I love about mp-4.Now I that I recently got my hands on tru mp-10 I can see y people love this toy.He is so much fun to
mess with and I cannot put him down and he also scales well with the new takara mp.if you can afford it I would keep mp-1 and get tru mp-10 asap they are both awsome toys.

I already own MP-01 (the US 20th anniversary one with the battle damage deco) and I'm planning on getting the MP-10 version as well. If you can afford it, I would suggest you do the same. Like Heat Guy said, MP-01 is timeless. It's the 1st MP ever and it has tons of cool stuff going for it that MP-10 doesn't. MP-10 however, is a great update. It has more pleasing aesthetics and since you don't have MP-04, the trailer and it's accessories really complete the figure.

Edit: If you can keep just one, I'd say go for MP-10! ;)

If you have the Masterpiece Megatron then I would recommend keeping MP-01 because those two giants look amazing next to each other! He may not be in scale with any transformers (not that I know of at least) he still is a great shelf topper! I say get MP-10 if you are planning on getting the rest of the upcoming MPs, or if you have a classics or alternators line that really needs a great leader! Otherwise he wont be as great as a display piece as MP-01 alone.

It's... not timeless, though. The figure's age is showing and it's really, really unposable compared to MP-10. Now, I do need to amend my post (I didn't realize he only had MP-01 vs. MP-10) but my point remains, MP-10 is just the better figure.

MP-10 by a mile for me. MP-1 was a milestone in Transformers toy history, the first time we had gotten a toy that intricate and designed to so closely resemble the animation model. But it was also hard to transform, and a bit of a brick. Fast forward several years, and we get the glory of MP-10. IMHO this is by far the best Optimus we have ever gotten. He has an intuitive transformation, is highly poseable, and is as close to a perfect Transformer toy that I have seen.

I have the US versions of both and prefer the original MP-01 mold. I like the head sculpt of MP-10 but the size, details and transformation scheme of MP-01.

$60-$80 plus shipping depending on how you go about selling the figure.

I think of it this way:
MP-01 is voiced by Peter Cullen.
    MP-10 is voiced by DR.SMOOV.
