36 days until MPM Ratchet's revealed
With over a month until his reveal...
Do we even know just what the hell movie 1's Ratchet's colour is?
Home for Thanksgiving break. Decided to transform my shelves.
My thoughts regarding these guys are complicated. Although I have a lot of nostalgia for these figures... there has been a lot of improvement within the transformers franchise. A lot. So I don’t know if I’m gonna keep any of them. Once my studio series collection starts to pile up, these guys are gonna pile down(?). Ill either sell them or let them sit under my bed (like they used to ).
Either way it was a blast to mess around with them. Except for the following three: Swerve, Mixmaster, and Scavenger. None of these three were even remotely fun to pose. Mixmaster especially. That cab of his doesn’t like to stay on whatesover. I am incredibly excited for his remake.
Although the twins are kinda shitty characters, I adore their ice cream truck version. I really hope it gets modernized.
I decided to take this bad boy out of the basement today
Soundwave is another figure I wish would get modernized. Although this figure shown isn’t bad, the alternate modes could use some work, as well as the arms. Poseability isn’t all that bad with him, but my copies waste joint is incredibly loose from years of play. I tried my darnedest to rip out the ball joint so I could coat it in nail polish, but the thing wouldn’t budge! So I tried to roll the joint around while coating it. In hindsight this was probably pretty stupid, but hopefully it’ll make him be able to stand.
Hope this answers your question

Literally every time I see mixmaster the more I want him in my collection.
Quick update on soundwave:
I also have only mpms as I started my collection quite late (only this year) and only cause the movies gave me again interess into TF. I plan maybe somewhen to buy a couple of G1 (Prime and Meg) but that's it. I love bayverse design, is soo full of details and really give the ideas of vehicles turning into robots with all the mechanic parts moving.
I started with the ROTF toyline all the way till DOTM, then went into Prime, AOE, RID 2015 all the way till TLK. Now I'm focusing on SS and Siege with Earthrise next year. I may get a MPM soon.
A friend gave me this neat little guy today!
I read a post about the people/person who painted the show vehicle in the movie something along the lines of lime green i think But i hope it looks yellow as he look better in the colour
I'm currently building a melting pot collection of Studio Series, Bumblebee, Cyberverse, Siege, and POTP/TR figures with Legends-sized cars as a basis for scale. 100% discounted figures, given my current budget (and space to spare):
BB Legends Camaro Bee
Scout Shadow Striker
Totally random and totally baseless, but that's sorta the point I'm trying to make. I want to build a collection I actually enjoy, rather than one I collected for the sake of completing an imaginary checklist like what I did with Studio Series last year. I expect less and less Movie figures to join my collection down the line, but one thing's still for sure - Transformers forever!
Well.. Prime Wars.
Combiners and titan masters were very fun to play with.
I tried getting into Siege but eh, not really feeling it. I only have OP, Megs Soundwave (with casettes), Starscream, Skytread (to partner with my Battletrap) and Blowpipe (for TR Triggerhappy)
Man I really wish I had Mindwipe, having Skystalker piggyback off Strafe doesn't feel right hahaha
About to bite the bullet on Hightower for my collection. On a scale of 1-10 how would you guys rate him? Is he worth the purchase, if I could find him?
Hmm around 8 or 9?
He's definitely such an oddball design but the toy does a great job translating that to plastic.
I think he's very much worth a purchase, if only so you can show off one of the weirder designs to crawl out of the Bayverse.
Actually I'm now thinking between getting him or Long Haul. Long Haul is on 20% discount, Hightower is nowhere to be found. Thoughts?
Are there any older movie figures that are MPM carbot (1:29) scaled? Preferrably some that didn't appear in any movies. I've seen a lot of cool ones but they often seem a little small.
Both are wonderful figures. Hightower has the cleaner transformation and I think he’s really fun to pose though. Long haul is an absolute treat though. He’s great looking BUT his wheels get in the way of arm posing, it’s a tad annoying. His transformation is also a bit fiddly.
Long haul isn’t without his issues though. My copy and many others on this forum have ‘bobbly’ waists. This isn’t a huge deal (it may be once that joint is an ankle for a bigger robot) but some folks have devised plans to fix it. His arm panels are also known to bow out when you try and put him in truck mode. I simply removed the screws in his arm and the problem was fixed, however others have done more to fix the issue.
Overall I think both are great figures, but considering how fun it is to mess around with Hightower, and the issues I had with Long Haul, I definitely think the former is the better figure. But if LH is the only one available and he’s got 20% off, I would say get him (and then HT later )
For me it’s all about priority, because I collect a lot of different lines. I boil it down to the below categories:
1- Complete US G1
2- Generations/Classics of G1 characters
3- Onscreen movie cast in Generations scale
4- Masterpiece, includes MPM (working on end goal of which characters)
5- Onscreen cast of Beast Wars through RID 2015 tv shows.
