Anyone else feeling a bit disappointed with SS Mixmaster so far? Maybe it's just me because Mixmaster is my favourite of all of them so I was expecting something better. I feel like his shoulders are too wide and his arms are weird. I hope I feel Better about him when I have him in hand

 

Finally had a chance to open up Jazz tonight and I'm surprisingly . . .disappointed?

His transformation was more involved than I thought and I love his poseabilty. Even his small size didn't bother me whatsoever. My copy just feels kinda fiddly. The front grill part is super loose in bot mode. The butt flap is really loose so it constantly falls down and bumps into his thighs.

And most of all I feel like he's leaning over. Like one of his legs is longer than the other.



I used my phone camera and used the grid to line this photo up with the edge of my desk. Am I crazy or is he leaning to the right?

I ordered this figure from ebay and it came from Taiwan so maybe I just got one with bad QC? I'm tempted to buy another copy for slightly more if it means the tolerance are better but I don't know if I could do any better.

Edit: Okay, I seriously have a messed up copy because this just happened from posing him and fiddling with the feet. I don't recall a pin being able to fall out under normal play.

 

Aw dang man I’m really sorry to hear that, if the place the pin is supposed to go into isn’t damaged, try to wrap something really thin around the pin, or dip it in something like floor polish to bulked it up slightly to make it stay inside better

Also, in the case that your eyes aren’t playing with you, and that jazz actually does have a slightly longer leg than the other, you could probably make a return case on eBay for it since it’s technically a flawed copy

 

My biggest issue with Mixmaster is that he isn’t currently in my hands lain as subject to whatever bidding I so desire

Thank you! I'll probably start inks this week unless thanksgiving stuff gets in the way (gonna be with family all weekend). It won't take that long but coloring might take a while. I also finished the pencils last night. I'll attach at the end of this post!

I was bummed when I first saw him but it turns out the wide shoulders are movie accurate. Also knowing how the whole devvy head is in the cab makes me feel a lot better about him too. Just over time as I've been able to see the details more through videos and pics I've come to think he looks pretty good and I'm excited for him.

Don't salivate too much it doesn't transform   Does look great though.

Here's my finished pencils (again with a figure so that it's technically on-topic, and also to show the size). I redrew a bunch of stuff to be better proportioned, filled in a lot of details, changed the design of the halo, and of course added the flames in!

The good news is you can do the backpack mod really easily now.

 

I flipped the ab cover by removing the pins and swapping them around.

Also, his sleeper panels are now angled diagonally behind his head.

Wow, I can't believe how wrong that is.

 

The purple stripe means "average" and when we get MPM ROTF Optimus/bumblebee that has better accuracy and tooling, you guys will look back at that post and realize that I told you so.

 

I still wouldn’t put SS over some of those mpms. Tbh the only real thing SS optimus has over MPM optimus is the price tag, apart from that mpm literally makes SS optimus look like a joke.
