Only thing that would really change is the sculpt, engineering would have remained the same as at that time that’s what they thought was the best they could do.

Is Hot Rod 1:39 in his Lamborghini mode?

Either way I can't wait to see how well you'll do him!

I know the cool thing to do is to completely shit on the old version for the sake of accuracy and oldness but that old one is a damn good figure and I'm glad I got it more than a decade ago. A lot of the offscreen figures were fun, like Incinerator, which has ridiculous engineering(propeller spinning gimmick) that remains intact no matter how the wings/arms are folded. That is awesome.

I also love how Highbrow turned out. Hell of an homage to G1 and clever too.

And I still like the 2008 Premium leader Prime but the automorph gimmick foot Spring got loose and I'm not sure how to fix it(foot won't stay out, it semi-transforms)

What are the possibilities of Siege's Commander Class making their way into Studio Series? And should they do, what figures do you want Hasbro to do of them?

    Agreed. It's such a shame Deluxes aren't Voyager-sized anymore!

    Oh wait.
    Deluxe3.jpg
5 Deluxes, same pricepoint, very polarising sizes. Keep in mind Bonecrusher is smaller and shorter than even some SS Deluxes, yet no one seems to be talking about how small he was... or Brawl... Anyway here are three modern Deluxe Class figures:
    25-Studio-Series-Deluxe-Bumblebee-Jazz-Ratchet.jpg
My god! Look at how big Ratchet is! He'd totally be a Voyager if he were released today. Wait... isn't he a new "small" Deluxe?
    RatchetIronhideRobot.jpg
A "small" new Deluxe next to a "big" old Voyager-sized Deluxe.

I'm not justifying the increased pricepoint or saying old Deluxes were bad. I'm just saying the sizes of Deluxe figures are so varied they could and should easily be split into two separate size points - Scouts for the little guys and Deluxes for the bigger ones.

The truth is that they're still big and they're also still small depending on which figures you look at. It's just that there aren't as many big guys as there used to be in the old days and that today's "big guys", for the sake of scale, are no-name nobodies like Scrapmetal and Crowbar instead of more popular folk like Bee, Sideswipe, and Barricade.

Sure, AOE had very small and underwhelming Deluxes, but that line was trash in general. SS has averted that and reintroduced "big" ones onto the scene. Just ask SS Lockdown to stand next to ROTF Sideswipe...

All of those old figures also possess a weight and girth that today's figures dont have and at half the price.

Do you have measurements for their weights with weapons, accessories, and all? As far as I know they've always carried around the same amount of plastic.

But I agree about the price. It's the only thing I see old Deluxes doing better at so far. Even with inflation into account I think they went up too much...

They look cool together! Any chance you would give us alt modes to?
He is close, 1:36.5 so I allow him for now.
Ill put him together today later for altmode groupshots, here they are as bots.

I think the excitement of “new” is a thing for a lot of people, the old figures were not bad at all, I still have some in my collection (Sentinel, Que and soon the Ultimate Optimus)
That said, with the newer techniques the newer bots are looking better but are way more fragile as a trade-off.

In such cases where light piping wouldn't work, I prefer having the eyes be painted. I don't like LED eye features because you can't keep them on all the time or you would be wasting the batteries.

Just ordered the three construction ko's from sirtoys. Heard in other forums that the quality is good and at about £8.50 apeice theyre an ideal solution for displaying individually and (eventually) combined.

Well the good news is you can still get the original challenger which has the LED eyes and face/head swap gimmick or you can get the more accurate MPM-style one.
Not really a fair comparison. Try putting 07 1977 camaro bee next to clunker bee and you'll see the real difference in what you're getting for your money.
Totally agree. Yes they're smaller but small characters should get small figures and also I like smaller figures :)  Still enjoying the heck out of my undersized TLK Optimus KO!
These are two separate things. Offscreen characters where they could let their imaginations run wild and actually comparing a prominent movie character are different. If someone says "hey that 07 Jazz figure is really great" or whatever I'm gonna disagree and it's not because it's "cool" it's really cause that is a shitty figure, IMO. Even back in 07 I was mad that that was all we got for him, and what we have now is way better. To me that applies to almost every figure we've gotten from studio series.
These are "luxury" items. Don't expect them to perfectly track with inflation or the price of plastics or whatever. They cost as much as hasbro needs them to cost.
This is how I feel. These days I really just want the most accurate and posable and fun figures and accurate headsculpts with painted eyes are really the best and easiest way to do that. They never look dead, the batteries don't run out, they don't need huge chunks of silly clear plastic on their heads nor a light to light them with.

Reasons we need a Studio Series Sideways:
    1) The deluxe was clunky
    2) The Arcee Sisters had a Shanghai background which could easily be reused
