So how many have seen this video?

Top 10 Movies Doug Likes But Everybody Else Hates - YouTube

So, what about you? Are there any movies you LOVE or even think is just OKAY that everyone else in the universe seems to hate.

Me? I love the movie Battle: Los Angeles. Yeah, I'll admit to it being cliche, but its a fun cliche. Its got a good, basic story of a group of marines trying to survive an alien invasion. From what I've heard, it has a lot of realistic military strategies and stuff.

Another little thing I love is that you see the alien invaders helping their injured, showing that these guys aren't just mass murderers. They're soldiers. Like our heroes.

    What about you?

I personally felt that Battle: LA was one of the better 'aliens invade, US fights them' movies in recent years. It had a slightly grittier vibe than direct competitor 'Battleship', wasn't as obnoxious as it's 90's precursor 'Independance Day' and was also ripe for sequels in other coastal cities. I'd pay good cash to see 'Battle: Vladivostok' or something like that.

Top of my list of movies I liked but everyone else hates is most definately Avatar; I'm a Cameron fanboy since T1, hell I even saw Titanic in cinemas when I was 12.....

I loved Now You See Me, as did my girlfriend and friends. And I enjoyed Into Darkness too.

Ya know, the funny thing about Avatar is that it can go on both kinds of lists. I've seen it on "I Hate This Movie, But Everyone Else Loves it!" and "I Love This Movie, But Everyone Hates it."

    Its weird.

Now You See Me was great, but one's ability to enjoy it would have depended on how much you like seeing smug bastards mug for the camera. I love it so the movie went over well with me.

As for Into Darkness, I know people love it and that it's refreshing Star Trek but fuck me I just cannot stand it. Chris Pine plays Kirk like a swaggering douchebag rather than a confident man of action and I personally think it's fucked that a setting like Star Trek, one of the most hopeful outlooks on the future of humanity, still has shit like child abuse (at least that was the impression I got about Kirk and his step dad). Seriously, that notion can die in a fucking warp core breach.

I'm going to be totally honest in that I do not know much of Star Trek. I know the basics, but I never watched much of the original stuff, saw a decent amount of Next Generation, some of Enterprise, but beyond that, I got nothing.

My girlfriend, on the other hand, watches a ton of all Star Trek stuff. So when we saw the movie, she was explaining to me stuff that I just didn't get. We both liked it, in the end though.

I get it, I get it, "Pocahontas in space" give James Cameron a little credit, the visuals are stunning and the Flora and Fauna designs were impressive... especially in 3-D

    Godzilla (1998)
I see why people don't like this one (Cinemasins and Nostalgia Critic have good points), but I loved the way "Zilla" was designed

    The Lost World: Jurassic Park
I don't know why, I just liked this one. It felt like an appropriate sequel for Jurassic Park in spite of Jeff Goldblum's acting and the gaping plot convenience that was the SS Venture. It at least tried to make its characters seem believably intelligent.... unlike the Jurassic Park that followed

Dawn of the Dead (2004 Remake)
Not as great as its namesake, but it was a decent enough remake

    King Kong (2005 Remake)

    Hancock
Admittedly, it did kind of power through a significant portion of the story in the third act, but Will Smith as a reluctant Super Hero was acted pretty believably given the actor

    Batman Forever
Of the two Joel Schumacher Batman films, this is the only one I can sit through. Tommy Lee Jones' portrayal of the scarred former Gotham district attorney was at least accurate to the comics (Aaron Eckhart's CGI burns may have looked good, but he never referred to himself as "we") and Jim Carrey was enjoyable as his interpretation of Edward Nygma/The Riddler... even if it was Ace Ventura

    GI Joe: Retaliation
I understand, many GI Joe fans didn't like The Rock as Roadblock since he was just "The Rock", but it was an enjoyable action film and it didn't spend most of the movie building up a gimmick to abandon it in the fourth act (I hated that Power Armor, anyway) and it had the balls to kill off longtime characters in the first half-hour of the movie.
