It will be a new decade tomorrow evening. If you're feeling really confident in your memory, list your favorite films of the decade. If you're like me and can't choose, maybe just list your favorite movie of each year from 2010-2019. Got to agree with this. Infinity War was the result of a decade of pop culture phenomena coming to a head(even if it was continued in Endgame.) It’s the Star Wars of our time, and it deserves the top spot.
Fury Road really was a visionary film. Made by an old ass man! George Miller is in his mid-70s, and he made an action movie that blows away all others made by directors half his age within this past decade. The style, vibrant colors, pacing, visual storytelling, framing, editing, the way he used CG as a tool, not a crutch...everything about it comes off as something made by a much younger man who is still super hungry, breaking rules and trying new things. It's almost a mini miracle. I wouldn't say it was my favorite movie of the decade, but in terms of action/adventure, it was easily the most impressive. Nothing even approaches it. I also liked Ex Machina and Annihilation a lot, both by Alex Garland. Also in science fiction, Arrival was very good. Hateful Eight is maybe Tarantino's finest, most ambitious movie, imo. Not counting Once Upon a Time, which I haven't seen yet. I'm not really a huge Tarantino fan, other than Jackie Brown, but this was a masterpiece.
I just wanted to point out that this is basically the same thread as Favorite movies and TV shows of 2010s..
Well I don't consider the decade over until next year, as years are 1-10 not 0-9, but the movies I have enjoyed this decade include: Everything MCU but Dark World and Captain Marvel, with The Winter Soldier being #1 Planet of the Apes Trilogy IT The Nice Guys Logan Lucky Ex Machina Doctor Sleep Get Out Inside Out Coco Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse Godzilla 2014 Mad Max Fury Road Django Unchained The Hateful Eight Kubo and the Two Strings Halloween 2018 There is more, but I can't think of them right now.
Thanos truly did earn his spot as the Darth Vader of this generation, and the Snap was also the cinematic moment of a generation unlike anything we’d ever seen before. Infinity War very well earned its place in history. Endgame countered with Avengers Assemble so... perfectly balanced.
