This is a custom '07 Starscream I did for a customer who just wanted a better looking figure over the actual toy look. I gave him a 'worn style' paint job with lots of detail work and shading. I border lined all of the wings, cockpit, and nose cone. I then tinted the windshield, and glossed 'only the jet mode (as in the movie) giving the figure a real neat glare effect under lighting. He's fully transformable with zero rub/chip issues which is something I strive to cancel out. (full transformation video: ) *** If you watch the video, ignore my talking to the customer - it's actually an update made for him. Also, I had a tough time transforming the figure cause I didn't know how BUT you can see my level of quality quite well!
That Looks Amazing Bro? I actually love this Giant Seeker Mold alot more than The ROTF Starscream. How did you Tint the Cockpit Window
It actually is a lot more golden than it appears. The video shows that. I airbrushed a very light coat of flat black paint under the cock pit. Like I said though it 'appears' much darker in the pics than it actually is. Thanks man!
Thanks IC - I have one right now as a WIP (I'll be posting it up in a couple months though as it's going to be pretty intense and will undergo lots of work!
I love the matte finish, most people just cover SS in silver. This looks so much better (not to mention photographing well). I've been on the fence about getting a movie SS, I think this has just convinced me that the first mold was the best. Was it hard work eliminating rubbing/chipping issues?
Thanks Bovril! I actually like this mold myself. It is an excellent figure to work with. Canceling out rubbing issues wasn't hard at all, it was basically just a bit time consuming working and finishing on the ones that did rub prior to fixing them. I think there were about 6-8 potential spots. Sanding and some cutting took care of things well.
Appreciate the comment man, I actually like both modes on this one when it's painted. Granted, it could use hands rather than launchers but it's a neat figure 'painted' that is.
Thanks Brunkion! I'll be painting the newer version soon, movie accurate too. I just wish it was better quality and a bit bigger.
One of the most beautiful SS in TF movie custom history! Man, I cant imagine you apply the same or better skill to a Leader SS...
woah amazing! at first I thought all pain tis flat, but no! in the video i saw the slight glossy tough of the altmode! amazing execution! i really love it! hope to see a lot more like this from you!
Seeing as all the Movie Screamers have gimpy hands, this is probably for the best. Even the Leader figure sucks in that respect. The more I look at ROTF Screamer, the more I think his crotch/legs look messed up. He just doesn't have the intimidating presence that this one does.
I hear that, I wish someone would lead the way and bash this figure into a custom leader class or even just a better modded voyager class. The only thing about it is the hands ordeal (like you said better than what we've seen though), and maybe some better leg joints (maybe). Other than that is a good figure when painted. I would've like to have done the tats on this one just for fun but it didn't pan out.
