I really don't know whether to consider this legit quite yet. And if it is legit, and it is Soundwave...well wow, that just looks like shit. I hope there will be a better interpretation figure wise. As far as what this might say about the movie, this design looks like shit. I don't want Soundwave to have huge ass jewels in his chest.

Still a bit fuzzy, but the head is looking pretty good from what you can make out. Sort of wish you could make out the hands better. The rest of the robot mode I'm not so sure on, it seems a bit weird but the picture is also rather blurry. Sort of hard to tell from the toys if things are going to be on the busy side or if the characters will have a more armored look this time.

As to toasters I still think the movie needs Talkie Toaster. It would cool if Talkie Toaster bot got to ask Starscream if he'd like some toast.

I hate the movie designers so very much, what a awful mess of a design. Its almost worse than Megatron, at least the head isnt a metalic predator/alien hybrid.

 

Wonder why Soundwave chooses to display his family jewels out in the open like that...

I'm sure Bay will do his best to make it "make sense" but it doesn't seem to mesh well with the parameters set in the first movie as far as robot designs. What does Soundwave keep in the spheres? goldfish? are they disco balls? is his alt mode a gigantic level tool?

 

Lol...The sad thing is I actually wished I had waited for the original Premiums. But they can shine this thing up with some better detail, and nicer paint, all they want. I'm not spending my money on it. It looks like someone drank a bowl of toilet cleaner and this is what they got after their trip to the bathroom.

Whoever said that this looks worse than movie Megs, you're absolutely right imo. I thought I hated Megs the worst out of the movie designs (Starscream came in a tie for second along with the rest of the Autobots minus Prime and Jazz.). But, if this is Soundwave...this definately takes the cake. Although movie Megs worked descent in the film (I still didn't like the crumpled newspaper vibe, and all the spindly hand), the design translated horribly to Figure. I'm really starting to dislike what these designers are doing to some of my favorite characters. I'll wait untill everything is said and done to make my final judgment, but it doesn't look or sound too good. Devestator being just one sentient robot, and having other vehicle drones, and Arcee being 3 bikes is a whole 'nother conversation thouh.

 

Wow. So much hate in this thread for a figure, seen in a couple of blurry low res photos, and probably mistransformed.

 

this is clearly horrendously mistransformed. if you look at the concept art you can see how those shoulder pieces are meant to sit - if folded down over the arms, not floating up in the air. also the old and new pictures are in quite different states of transformation - including on the first one, the left and right chest-circles being closed.

 

Dude, it's a thread related to the Movie... a lot of people post in them purely to cry and weep.

Well, I got it wrong... I did think it was a crude kitbash just to cause controversy; evidently not. Not taken by this toy, but then I don't like the vast majority of the Movie toys, because they're not design-accurate (I know, I know, realistically they couldn't be, seeing as Hasbro make toys for children rather than some minority collector market). Maybe this time they've gone all accurate... but I'll doubt it til I've actually seen the designs properly in-film.

 

I don't understand... Have you seen the clearer picture, you can see a head that resembles G1 Soundwave :S

You can't even draw a comparison between Megs and G1 Megs, except now for the fact he MAY have a Arm Cannon.

I like the look of the figure, if the movie follows that design I will be happy. It has a Soundwave head and I can't wait to hear him speak.

He just looked boring to me.
