Has anyone done their own movie character design? I have been thinking today about doing a few addition characters and one is based almost on Blackout, which would be an Autobot of course.

I did one movie design based on my car, which I posted awhile ago. Planning to make a 3d version later down the road, if time permits. :)

I've been working on one for Abominous and SideBurn.

Abominous basically is not a gestalt but a single being instead. He is a robotic beast transformer like Skorponok. His alt mode is a monster that's a cross between two movie monsters: "Mr. Big" from "Stephen King's Dreamcatcher" and the "fish-monster" from "The Host." He is the size of Blackout. In beast mode, his circular jaws can eat through armor. He has two four-fingered claws/feet which he uses to grapple, tear, and climb with. His spiked tail can whip Autobots back and cause tremors. He has the ability to swim and tunnel under ground. Because of his beast mode's four eyes, in robot mode he has 360 degrees of vision. His beast mode's forked tongue splits to become the two horns on his robotic head which he uses to impale his enemies. In robot mode, he uses his claws and feet to tear through or scale large buildings. Most disturbing about him is his obsessive hunger for the destruction of all organic life -something that disgusts and worries his fellow decepticons.

Sideburn is a "sherbert-orange" (think the color used on the new mitshubishi eclipse but in a lighter tone) prototype high-performance automobile. He looks like a cross between the old muscle cars of the 1960's & 1970's and the new american muscles of today. The front grill & headlights resemble that of a razor.

I have partially drawn Abominous out (I still need to add details) and I have his transformation fully worked out. SideBurn's vehicle mode is down but I haven't started on his robot mode. I just don't have much free time right now. I may be able to finish them both in late May or sometime in June.

I've been thinking of doing a movie Jetfire, and I have a good idea of what he'd look like and turn into, however I have the drawing skills of a lobotomised monkey.

I remember trying do design a guitar transformer once...then I said I'd never design a TF out of a really thin object like guitars, or lightpoles or the like.

I'd like to try a movie design. I won't think of the actual physics of them (i.e. how they precisely transform) but I'll think of the basics. Watch this space for details.

I've got lots of ideas for movie style bots buzzing around in my head, but lack the necassary skill to do them properly.

I mean, just look at how this Ramjet turned out.

If I actually drew things on a regular basis, I might be able to do my ideas some justice, alas, I'm too lazy to bother.

All those sketches are great! I'm gonna have to come up with something too.

Good job on the guitar, also! It's cool to see some "real gear" ideas.

Yes all of those sketches are great. I am trying to think about how I'm going to do my own character. I know I'm going to base him or her on a military aircraft, since well the Autobots of the first movie don't have any air support. I just have fallen for the movie designs and I just think thats the right look period. I was kind of not sure at first when I first saw the first designs of them come out way back and now well its just interesting.
