Is any one else catching a huge jump in excitement for TF3? It seems like Bay played his cards right for this one. I know it's wayyyy to soon to tell but things are stacking up and are looking promising! What do you think?

The buzz for me is about the same as it was for ROTF at this point. I think there was a lot of good buzz before ROTF came out too, but when it came out many people were disappointed.

I'm certainly interested. I like a lot of the things we're hearing and seeing. Chicago is really on fire right now.

I'm highly anticipating TF3... I have really high hopes for it, and I mean HIGHER than the hopes I had for ROTF, perhaps even higher than the hopes I had for the 2007 movie.

I wasn't caught up in the pre-ROTF buzz, but I'm pretty psyched for TF3. I'm looking forward to seeing Shockwave mostly, along with Soundwave.

Personally I'm not very excited for Transformers 3. I love all the spoilers, the speculation and I love all those making of clips, but the actual completed film isn't high on my list. I mean I'll watch it at some point because if I've given all the cartoons a chance it would be silly not to give the film a chance, but there is no rush to see it. The toys don't really cut for me either since I'm only into the hybrid figures so it's about a year after the release before the movie toys do it for me.

As to buzz in general I think they are running pretty par with Revenge of the Fallen. We used to have the writers drop by here to talk a bit about the film, we had spoiler pictures, even news bits from Micheal Bay and his website. This time we don't have writers dropping by but a lot of teasing is still out there and not hard to access.

Although the most interesting thing with the buzz this time is Bay's human approach. We don't have that I am god because I'm a director but an almost more personal approach of I'm only human and I can make mistakes. That could be something that could generate a good bit buzz among fans who might not have been as happy with Revenge of the Fallen as they were with Transformers.

Whether you like what you've seen so far or not, there is one story here that is sort of the unspoken drama.

In a nutshell: will TF3 make up for the critical failure of ROTF?

It's an interesting story. It's actually the story of an underdog. The challenge is for Michael Bay to win over hardened cynical fans who hated ROTF, and critics who despised it. All we know so far is that Bay "took some of the criticism" seriously and is making an honest effort to correct what's been wrong. Will he do it? Odds are he won't, but he's going to try. Hence, in my opinion it's the unspoken drama going on here, and it makes me root for Bay and his team and hope he can pull it off.

How does one gauge movie buzz?

They do seem to be getting a reasonable amount of press coverage, both from the filming around Chicago, and the Megan Fox debacle.

Even though I didn't like TF1, I was pretty hyped for ROTF after the trailers hit. It looked epic and dangerous. We all know how that turned out. We shouldn't let ourselves get fooled twice. TF3 is probably going to be another shitty movie. I'm keeping low expectations for this one so as not to be disappointed.

I think it's hard at this point to say if Transformers 3 will change the critical response or not.

There are a lot of elements you could point to so far to say yes on paper Transformers 3 is looking to be a far better film than Revenge of the Fallen and that will win people back over. But there is just so much of an unknown factor with film making. Films that have a good cast, good director and good writers have been known to flounder while films that shouldn't have anything going for them have risen out of obscurity.

Transformers 3 could be great or it could one of those films that make you go why oh why did they have to make this film. It's all down to gut feeling at this point. It's not really until the film is released that we will know if all the pieces come together beautifully or if they just go crashing into each other.

Considering we're only a month or two into filming, I'd say excitement is pretty high for TF3 at this point. I can't really remember if it'd rival ROTF's excitement, but people seem really hopeful, since we know they're going really G1.

I think the reason behind this "higher" buzz is that one of the first bits of news that came out was that the Twins screen time would be limited.

Think about it. As soon as the Twins heads were leaked, people went ape-sh*t and opes were dashed. That was the beginning of the end for many. Then we heard their voices in the trailer....Spongebob. Then the movie.

Then, of course, the first news involved the twins and their lack of screen time. Hopes back up.

Now, if they are planning to "remove" these two from the movie in some capacity...why in the heck are we privvy to what happens to the twins and not know what the heck happened to Barricade or Jolt????? GAH!

After being overly hyped for TF1 and being majorly let down I decided not to bother getting overhyped for these movies I think this one might be the first in the series that could actually be good.

I was hyped for the first two movies and have ended up not liking either of them so I'm not overly excited for TF3. Most of the info we've heard so far has sounded promising, but I'm not expecting it to be a great movie.

It's hard not to get excited with all the filming news and onset footage and photos.

Maybe one of the reasons I'm more encouraged that TF3 will be an improvement is that Bay still has a year to film, animate, and edit. ROTF seemed so rushed in every aspect. The writer's strike, and the news that Bay was filming without a script, did not bode well for the second movie, and those bad signs proved true. Hopefully, time will be a key ingredient.

Transformers2 was a financial success and not a failure despite how much a few people on forums and paid critics might want to claim. The general public loved it worldwide even with its flaws, otherwise the higher boxoffice result would have stopped there but the DVD/Blu-Ray discs sold more than the first movie and it was among the most sold disc releases of 2009. If people didn't love it like critics and fans/fanatics on forums can claim it wouldn't have sold that much on disc releases,it's just that simple.

Transformers3 is at high risk since Michael Bay fired Megan Fox and ordered a sudden rushed script rewriting. Now they are trying to play damage control allowing a lot of scenes to be leaked on the 'net from Chicago along with many new info way more than what happened with the previous two movies and they seem desperate with trying to play the G1 card in a hope that fans/fanatics will drive the marketing force among the general public which is losing interest more than what the Paramount marketing obviously would want people to believe--otherwise they would have sealed a lot more things in Chicago, they could have done that if they really wanted, it's not that for The Dark Knight shot there in Chicago as well Nolan and WarnerBros allowed so much stuff to be leaked when filming.. yeah, well then they were lucky with the dead actor to be sold for marketing which was more than enough to make the movie a huge success... But Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg don't have any dead actor/actress on set yet... only one they fired which is going to cause plot and characters consistency and continuity issues despite those negating that. The main huge mistake was to give Sam Witwicky a new love interest and have a topmodel that it's not even hotter than Megan Fox to play the role. If they avoided any new love interest they would have been risking a lot less.

I don't know it feels kind of rushed to me.

Micheal Bay wanted a year off and honestly I can't blame him for that. For all the faults I can find in him as a director I can't fault him for the insane amounts of he time, effort, and energy he puts into his films. He must sleep for two weeks or something after filming a movie.

With an extra year it also seems like that would have been more time to really dig into what worked and didn't work for Revenge of the Fallen.

July 2012 would have felt more like they were taking their time to craft a better film. July 2011 just feels a bit like they are in a hurry to get it out and not perhaps for good reasons.
