I would say that the mini comic Roboto would make for a better commander of toy Robotos with his heart. I'm going to use him as an upgraded Roboto.
Again, it's a stretch. ToD Sorceress was in some mini comics and she even made it into Classics. If we see him it will likely be a Creations release like Camo Khan.
I could see Leo Skeletor coming with Snake Mountain or as an MC exclusive. As far as international variants go Faker, Camo Kahn, "Dark" Skeletor and Fuerza-T are some of the most well known so I think it's just a matter of time and working a deal with Top Toys.
Well like I said, a character with no main line lore at all probably isn't going to make it into the retail line, even as a pack in. Leo Faker was Power Con, Camo was MC. We have several more MC exclusives coming this year as well. And I hate discussing Fuerza T in Origins because I just feel like we'll never get those and they're my number one hope for things to be brought in. I'd even be okay with a $1000 full boxed set of them.
Does Leo "dark" Skeletor need any in universe explanation? His 200X look just happened so why would a tan and a change of clothes?
There's a massive difference between an Indian release that never saw wide release and the main version of Skeletor from what is considered to be the "best" cartoon in the franchise.
Well, we had a listing for Snake Mountain at $120. I know inflation is a thing but I'd have to imagine that includes a figure since Grayskull did for $80. What do you think the figure would be? My guess would be an easy bad guy repaint and there aren't many of those left. None I can think of from Classics unless maybe they mixed LoP Skeletor's body with the Rise of Evil 2 pack head for an Alcala Skeletor. Huh. With there being both a dungeon and those manacles on the outside, maybe $120 includes 2 figures and one is a good guy? That's probably too much to hope for but Grayskull didn't really have "bad guy" play features aside from the trap door whereas Snake Mountain has a dungeon, a trap door, and manacles so there's "play logic" in including a good guy. Plus, while $120 costs 50% more than Grayskull to us, a playset with two figures probably doesn't cost them 50% more so it's a way to hide the inflation/lower production run price increase. Probably not going to happen. But maybe?
Well in my mind they should have held back on Mini Comic Trap-Jaw or Tri-klops for a Snake Mountain pack in. Maybe we'll get a true "Red" Beast Man with it. Who knows. But also, that huge articulated snake might eat the budget for a figure.
Here is where I am at. If they made a grey torso version, I would agree they would make the better trooper. But I don't see it happening. They made the new torso, they will use it up.
Can't tell if it's a sticker or paint on his chest... So, all this talk of a "Leo" Skeletor, is there a resource somewhere to read about these variants? Like a tfwiki of sorts, but for MOTU?
Pixel Dan has some videos on that stuff, that'll be your best bet. There is a Grayskull wiki but it's trash.
Y Yeah I've found the Grayskull wiki, and came to the same conclusion ha ha. I'll check out PD, he's actually a toy reviewer I've enjoyed watching (& he's been a good resource for me getting educated on Origins), thank you!
Maybe not "read" but certainly can see them. I keep hoping Mega will make more Leo variants if they are going to insist on reusing the Skeletor and HeMan tools over and over and over.
Anyone got any guesses on He-Man.org coming back? Not when, but if - just seems that that site has been steadily falling apart and not being fixed over the past couple of years... Used to have exactly the kind of guide Skreeonk is after, but then that broke and stayed broken, and until a few days ago it was reduced to only the forums, which are now down as well. I know there's a placeholder that says back in about a week, but I've seen a few sites go a similar way and never return.
It used to be that you could just go on eBay and sort for highest priced. There are a lot of subtle variants, dozens of Mattel variants in the U.S. alone because they used so many factories around the world. They also kept early figures in production for years alongside new releases. For my money, the non-U.S. releases that "count" as unique are: Laser Light He-Man (two heads variants, hoping Origins includes both heads: one had a haircut more like Dolph and one looked more like a vintage He-Man) Laser Light Skeletor Tytus Megator Camo Khan Leo Toys Skeletor (Gray armor, dark blue skin) Leo Toys Skeletor (Magenta armor) Leo Toys Faker (Dark circles around eyes, green eyebrows, full Skeletor armor set in orange) Top Toys Road Ripper (Blue instead of green) There may be an unflocked Moss Man. It's hard to tell if it lost its flocking or never had any. The others are in the same (wide) range of color and paint variations you saw WITHIN the U.S. market. Teela and Evil-Lyn had paint variations. Skeletor had boot paint variations. Man-at-Arms had a red dot on his helmet. The only one that rises to a unique figure in the U.S. for me is Stratos with reversed wing and armor color. Your mileage may vary. Like I say, there are dozens of sculpt and color variants that are subtle, including how sharp the fur is sculpted around the belt of the loincloth on numerous figures. To me, the minor variants aren't worth an homage. But if they wanted to give He-Man vintage style asymmetrical bracers (big one on the left arm), they could probably release He-Man and every figure that uses his left arm again as a meaningful variant. Likewise, they've never actually released a clean-shaven Man-at-Arms with an accurate helmet in Origins. The Palace Guard set and LoP MAA both use different helmets on the clean-shaven MAA face from regular MAA. Teela and Evil-Lyn also got new facial expressions in Origins and have never gotten vintage style heads. I think they could probably remaster the early waves in a way that would sell. Particularly if they also toned down the colors. As the line has gone on, sculpts became more vintage accurate and colors, while still brighter, aren't as bright as the first few waves.
Oh. I think there may be some really wacky Adam variants with flesh colored arms or something but I tend to mentally classify those as errors.
