Holy shit!! I bought some of the smaller sets on clearance years ago for customizing DCUC figures. Where did I put those????
So they are discontinuing a niche but popular sub line... to create a new sub line. And it's similar to the old sub line in general theme but in a new scale that is closer to the other WWE figures. This does sound exactly like a Mattel business strategy.
I think some of the decision was made due to the frustrating nature of working with WWE. There were reports that the line, though popular, was a headache for both parties. WWE didn't like having to "share" their IP with the MotU brand, and wanted Mattel to include more figures based on their current roster. Mattel in contrast wanted to push waves that pushed past wrestlers as they were a more proven seller. As a result, the decision was made to just save themselves the stress, move on from the collaboration, and return to their previous formula.
I was thinking... if they do battle armour Faker, he'd look best with Skeletor's torso and the rest as He-Man parts, But what style of heads would it have? What accessories? What would be the torso symbol? I'm thinking that one of the heads should be the Origins He-Man head, the non-vintage one. It'd be neat to have, you know? The other could be a more robotic head or a battle-damaged one. Or maybe an orange helmet to match the armour? Accessories would obviously be an orange sword but then there's about 2 more things to throw in. A gun would set him apart from He-Man and Skeletor. Then idk. A new shield? Some effect part? A hologram generator? The torso symbol would probably be some manner of circuitry. If they went real hardcore with it the first undamaged face of the rotating drum could be orange to match the armour, the second could start revealing circuitry beneath and the third would be fully revealed.
Past Battle Armor Fakers have used the Skeletor armor with the same Batman symbol just in funky colors. As for heads your right on point with the non-vintage head and a battle damage head, but I like the helmet idea too. Now accessories should be the He-Man ax, the Havoc Staff and... maybe the Grayskull rifle.
Looking to buy some mini comics. Need... Horde Plague Rock And A Hard Place The Terror Of Tri-Klops Challenge Of Jitsu It would be nice if Mattel would make a binder for these. Put some fancy art work on the front/back covers.
Wow!!! Those had the latest date on them. I keep seeing people on the org having pretty much everything shipping including Sun-Man already. I keep checking my FedEx app and looking at my MC account page and nothing. The order history isn’t even updated and I had no notice they shipped my Tri-Klops let alone it went to my old address somehow. This is turning into a disaster for Power Con and Val more by the day. They only have the Horde Set and still waiting on Faker and won’t have the Grayskull set til almost Dec. A lot of people don’t care about the PC logo being on a box or the trading card. I don’t, I have all that art already on a bigger format. People have gotten $84 shipping quotes on just 1 Horde set. Plus it’s taking this long to just the attendees. Then it’s the non attendees after all of it’s shipped to the attendees and they’re not even shipping BBTS til they have the 3 sets. Meanwhile the MC orders people already will have theirs plus only paying 6.95 to ship everything. I wasn’t able to get the Faker set and hope the market gets flooded so the prices drop. Considering this is the highest amount of PC exclusives ever made. On a side note, Top Toys account posted this
Are the first release hm and sk still on clearance at wm? At $11 I’m going to gra two of each for fodder.
A battle damaged head fits well both with the central battle damage gimmick but also with drawing on the terminator and on the regular Faker that reveals his circuitry when you take off the armour. A non-damaged but more robotic head might not have precedent but it'd be neat. The helmet is mostly because the other battle armour dudes don't have it and I'd like Faker to not just be blue He-Man so that his toys can be interesting in their own right. Possibly the helmet could be combined with the robot head idea and be more of a reinforced robot head. Maybe go fully luxurious and have a visor that can be lifted up to reveal Faker's face underneath? Or maybe one that can be removed to reveal a battle-damaged face? A gun is imho one of the better accessories he could have because it further sets him apart from Skeletor and He-Man but also draws on the obvious "robot with death ray" conceptual space. And if you upgrade your Fakers with armour, why not also upgrade them with meaner weaponry? It makes sense that the deluxe Faker toy would be of a more expensive version. I'd probably buy a battle armour Faker no matter what else as long as it just had Skeletor's armour, so my standards aren't super high... but I can dream.
Yeah I’ve only seen them for $10-11 but always see people online find them for $5. I want to grab more He-Mans as I like the new head and want to make it the default on future variants like I did with Classics. I can always use the generic body for more customs.
