WWE wanted new wrestlers to be promoted and Walmart wanted classic wrestlers that would actually sell. Look how fast those roman reigns that just peg warmed while jake the snake and macho man sold out
So I think everyone misunderstood, I'm not using the acetone to soak. *NEVER SOAK PARTS IN ACETONE, IT'S A GOOD WAY TO SAY GOODBYE TO PARTS* I am a pretty experienced customizer, when I use acetone I use qtips and acetone to remove paint gently. I dip the cotton swab into the acetone just to soak up a very small amount, then I "roll" the swab over the paint, and then throw it away. It takes quite a bit longer physically than giving parts alcohol soaks... but not every paint is affected by alcohol so I reserve this method for last ditch. I just did a test on a spare Sting body. Here are the results. Please note* do not attempt this method without practice. It took several failures for me to learn this method without melting patches of plastic, and it does not work well on transformers so avoid using it on them at all costs. Edit: Here's the first pass on New Day, so far so good. Just wish I was more patient. After the whole thing is done under the first pass I will go back over after the plastic is fully cured again and not at risk of being eaten, to pick up any left over spots of light discoloration and crevices.
Cool! Thank you very much. Is it safe to use a little paint thinner to get the enamel paint off the soft plastic parts? Or should I just play the waiting game at this point?
why not order from bbts or somewhere that has collector grade purchasing ability? they take much better precautions for the packaging on those. Amazon just feels like youre a glutton for punishment.
Because Amazon had the repacks and bbts doesn’t. I also can’t go look in stores as I’m not able to walk yet. Skeletor’s bubble is only connected on the Mattel logo in the bottom corner on both. The comic is also glued down. He-man has this nasty rip somehow.
I used the q tip with acetone method in years past but on Marvel Universe figures. It worked well with the red plastic I tried it on but less so with the black plastic (Venom?) I tried it on. It ate the Venom plastic.
I don't collect wrestling figures (well not yet at least) . Are modern wwe characters not selling well (enough for Walmart to insist on classic 80's characters) based upon what Thanks for the link. Huh. Admittedly the first 4 figures don't look appealing to me at all. Maybe the Honkey Tonk Man does after a 3rd look.
I have had very good luck with Windsor Newton Brush Cleaner to remove many factory paint apps. Nothing works on everything, but the WN is the first thing I go to. It's far less harsh than acetone and I clean my airbrush with it as well. Pretty easy to find at Hobby Lobby. Dip a cotton swab, apply a little, then gently scrub with the bud.
It's never going to not eat the plastic. It's just about how you control the eating of the plastic and keep it at bay. I took your advice somewhat though and used wet sanding to knock back the shine that comes from my method. New Day approved! Now to take a Dremel to his head and make some new faces. "AAAAAAH!!"
I want all of the last two waves of MotWWEU. ESPECIALLY Chyna. why did BBTS not carry them? which store is people using?
The exact quotes are somewhere here, not sure where, but to paraphrase: original idea was to do classic figures, I think it was WWE that balked as they wanted the line to push modern characters moreso, line wasn't satisfactory enough for Walmart, ultimately canned and pivoted to this classic design even though more WWEternia figures were in the works beyond the ninth wave.
Entertainment Earth just charged me for Goddess and Webstor. Still waiting on them to ship my Age of Apocalypse Marvel Legends.
Pegwarmers? I've never even seen any on the shelves (granted I don't go into Walmart that often but you'd think I'd have seen them once or twice). I'm still baffled by how they think that line failed. I always thought they just didn't want to have to give Mattel a bigger cut because it wasn't just straight WWE.
one like Roman Reigns and the dude with the beard I saw for four months at my local store before they clearanced out.
