I'd put better odds on the spacesuit thing specifically, while I could see the other parts not being seen again. It'd be easy to do something else reaching out of the grate or the spirit in a different translucent color though.
I have been spreading this idea. Mattel has yet, to my knowledge, ever produced new tooling that hasn’t been used or reused. The Grayskull expansion set will have a retail release in different colors. I am relatively certain this is also true for Duplicat because of the arm guards and it has been the first to sell out, twice.
That makes sense about the suit. Well here's to hoping for a release at retail so we can fill castle Grayskull with tentacles & ghosts. I like the idea of ancient monsters in a castle with computers & other technology.
I don’t know much about Sun Man and its toys but I’m willing to learn. So many people are excited about Pigman that I’m excited too. Can’t have too many weird human animal hybrids in MOTU. We already have a bee, skunk, lobster, elephant, spider, alligator, king snake, cobra snake, anaconda, etc
We may never get a proper MOTU/Conan crossover line, but at least we can pretend to have a MOTU/Deathstalker one (and of course, I just love having more from that Sun-Man lore that family created)
I know only what I have read in the past few days of Sun Man. But when Sun Man was originally leaked via listings I looked him up om Google images and immediately was drawn into the funky little ham warrior that was his enemy, Pig Head.
I love sword and sorcery stuff (especially since I'm such a D&D nerd) and I love Fantasy Sci-fi even more, I blame the art of Bruce Pennington for that. I already have a bunch of masterverse stuff pre-ordered solely to partswap over to my Origins figures to build some custom "Perfect" versions of my favorite characters. Hell I'm gonna get a 3D printer just so I can make some figure kits in the same scale as Origins. And here I thought I was more devoted to Transformers.
It’s going to happen the Grayskull set’s colors aren’t even right. The tentacle will be pink in the retail release and the spirit of Grayskull glow-in-the-dark. I don’t know about the suit. This tooling isn’t staying “exclusive.”
I am wondering if the Grayskull stuff could end up in a Point Dread set. You traditionally get the castle mount with the set and the space-suit makes for a nice “pilot”. A Point Dread Talon Fighter with these add-ons would be fantastic and give those parts and obvious box-in and pice mark-up.
Probably won't have the second head if he stays a standard release. I'd gladly play for Deluxe price for one that kept the accessories from the online version.
The exclusive version has semi-metallic red armor too. I imagine retail getting a flatter red like the vintage toy.
That’s kind of the only thing that didn’t add up this year about the exclusives. The sort of cheap price on the Grayskull set and Faker set. I mean look at the pricing on last years sets or even just a Horde 4 pack. The box for the Faker set looks like it’s ready to go on shelf right at Target. I’ll be keeping an eye out as they start to ship for the Faker set which was all I missed this morning. Hopefully the prices drop. I was waiting to see what the backlash was going to be for eBay with the people who’s spent $400-600 on these.
