After getting a ROTF Bludgeon and playing around with him for awhile. I was very disappointed with the toy. I had heard so many good things about it and how nice the figure was overall but to me it did not live up to my expectations.

What other transformers do you think are overrated or overhyped?

Cybertron Leader Optimus. Everyone seems to love that guy, I found him solidly mediocre.

FE Arcee. Everyone praises it but it's too big, the shoulders are ugly, and the face is ugly.

FE Vehicon. I remember the days when I kept saying PRID Vehicon was better before he came out and people kept replying to me saying "but he still has small bits of kibble on his legs! He doesn't look better than the FE!" or "He might have more kibble you can't see! The FE is still better despite his crappy weapon peg tolerance and huge backpack!"

TFC Hercules. I don't see the appeal. He looks incredibly undynamic in a lot of poses (especially his legs), his left foot is stumpy, the color choice is bad, the individual bots don't have shit like ankle articulation and almost look like bots from the UT, the visor looks ugly, and you have to fix half of the figures out of the box. I saw Hercules in person and it just...didn't look good. Giant is cheaper and the individual bots actually look like 2010-2011 Generations Transformers.

Actually I feel a lot of the G1 Japanese molds are over hyped. I own all the unique molds and none of them are really all that great except for Overlord and Browning. I found all the Zone Autobots to be kinda boring. With the Victory team I love the characters but the toys are not all that great. Don't get me wrong I like them and I think they are good toys, but I think people make them sound like they are the pinnacle of the line.

In before people ignore the "over-rated/over-hyped" part and just start listing figures they don't like, regardless of how much "hype" the figures had or how highly rated the figure is.

    Anyway, some of mine:

    - MP-05 Megatron - I think the luster has come off this one over time, but when it was released, there was a lot of hype around it and the initial reviews were generally gushing.

    - Prime FE Voyagers - Keeping in mind that "over-hyped" and "over-rated" doesn't necessarily mean that a figure is bad, just that it doesn't live up to the expectation. For me, the FE Voyagers are very nice, but nowhere near good enough to justify all the desire for them or hype surrounding them (like the recent 'first sighting' news post, for example). I was actually kind of disappointed with them when I first opened mine (especially Bulkhead), since so many people had been elevating them to god-like status.

    - MakeToys Green Giant

    - MP-10 and MP-11

    - RotF Leader Optimus Prime

    ROTF Mindwipe.

People were loving this guy up and down, saying he was better than Bludgeon (one of my personal favorites) and the best of the ROTF line.

While many of the ROTF figures were great, Mindwipe didn't really deserve all of the positive comments I heard about him. His weapon gimmick is rather stupid and limited, his shoulders are limited in range due to how blocky the construction is, and he's got some kind of conflicting situation with his legs (he has stability and posing problems if you try making his legs humanlike/plantigrade, but he just looks weird when the legs are chickenwalker/digigrade.)

Classics Galvatron. The one I have was purchased used, so the joints were a little loose in spots, but it didn't really live up to my expectations.

A lot of people seem to want Voyager Dreadwing, for some reason. I have him and he looks awful in his alt mode, and in robot mode he is okay but nothing special.

A lot of people are just listing figures they personally don't like, as opposed to figures that everyone was praising and turned out not fulfilling all those promises...

Anyways, I'd have to say FE Voyager Prime. Don't get me wrong, I love it and I bought one back when they had just stopped being made for the time being. WHen I got it, I loved it, since he looked AWESOME, but I felt he should have had more for such a praised figure--like shoulder articulation similar to the RID mold and shins that had clip locks...
