Because I hate him, but from a writing standpoint, he really is just... nothing special. There's nothing he did that other characters during that year couldn't do.

Plus, my girlfriend can't even remember his name. Whenever she sees him, she goes "who the hell is that?".

I legitimately can't remember one thing he's ever done.

 

G1 Skids forgot about him even in the episodes he first appeared in
G1 Windcharger, Huffer, and Trailbreaker, moreso Windcharger, I feel were lacking the most in major appearances. Even Bluestreak who already looks much like the more popular Prowl(just with a different color scheme) still felt like he was able to stand out on a few occasions, likewise with Thundercracker and Skywarp
Reflector, his ability is kind of crap and he was always overshadowed by Lazerbeak who did his job much better

 

-Blow Bruticus to bits.
-Use his force field, drain it instantly and get blasted away.
-Save a train with one arm.

One of the best G1 Autobots, or even Autobots in the brand, period. Beachcomber's problem was that he was underused, despite actually being unique within Transformers.

 

I think some people are missing the point. It’s not “characters you’ve forgotten”. It’s “characters that were so uninteresting that they’re not worth remembering.”
In that respect, even characters that made many appearances might be forgettable if they didn’t really do anything notable. It’s not just a matter of screen time.

Prime Bumblebee was forgettable. Even his overblown "death" scene subversion. He's suddenly a Captain America tier leader at that point onwards but nowhere in the show alluded to a character arc ever pointing into that direction for him.

 

Scramble City combiner limbs. Besides the Combaticons.

 

Sunbow Bluestreak and Skids are pretty forgettable. I don't think Bluestreak ever even had an episode for himself. Easy to forget Tailgate and Swerve were in Season 3 as well.

The other series have small enough casts that it's hard not to remember the roles they played in those.

Prowl in Cyberverse probably counts though, I only remember that he died.

 

The Cyberverse Insecticons. I don't think they ever did anything.

 

I was the target age for G1, I've been an adult fan for decades, and I still can't name all the Constructicons off the top of my head.

Hook, Mixmaster, Scrapper, uh...

 

Scrapper, Mixmaster, Hook, Bonecrusher, Long Haul, and Scavenger.

 

No offense, but that’s pathetic.

 

They're not characters, they're gimmicks as part of another character who is memorable or a hand waving device to move along Decepticon plots for where a device or structure comes from.

scavenger and scrapper were always the names I'd forget. Like my brain at one point could only remember one at a time.

But anyways I'm sure their are more forgettable but from time to time I just go "oh yeah" when Armada blurr comes up. Like he didn't do anything wrong and he's not obscure I just forget he was ever a thing.

 

Perhaps they just meant something to me personally. I didn’t care about Devastator, but I loved the individual Constructicons. I was admittedly always more into the toys than the cartoon.

The Terrorcons, though? Or the Technobots? I probably can’t name three between both teams combined. Completely forgettable Scramble City combiners.

EDIT: Ok, I did think of three: Blot, Sinnertwin, and Lightspeed. But that’s honestly all I can recall.
