I think it goes without saying that there's a lot of characters who you'll kinda just forget about if you aren't reminded of them. A lot in G1, and even more as the years have gone on. What characters do you find the most forgettable (if you can remember they exist at all)?

For me, Windcharger. His magnetism ability is noteworthy, and his toys are usually pretty good, but nothing about him's ever jumped out at me to make him memorable in the same way guys like Trailbreaker, Skids, or Bluestreak have.

I think this cannot be answered due to it's very nature :lol

But some bots I do remember, bevause they have fans who bring them up all the time: brawn, gears, tailgate, etc are all pretty forgettable. The rest I can't remember. Naturally.

It's pretty hard and debatable, alot of characters may of been forgotten, but gotten resurgence somehow. If I had to point at one characters it'd be Buffalo Dump. He was a scrapped toy, who feels so obscure.

But, if we're solely talking G1 cartoon and comics, I think out of all the 1984 characters, Windcharger was the most forgettable. He was barely featured, I can't remember a quote he said and he had like... 1 or 2 memorable appearances.
Skids is also up there because he was such a late addition to the show, was never advertised and his weird release history led to the television writers ignoring him. But, MTMTE made him a likable character and I heard his Spotlight issue in Marvel was well received.
Buzzsaw was replaced by Laserbeak, and I can't remember anything Buzzsaw did.
In season 3, Hubcap didn't even appear. Strange. He did get a role in Sins of the Wreckers.
Tailgate and Swerve vanished after their first appearance. Swerve didn't even get a single line of dialogue. They were also made popular in MTMTE.
The majority of the season 4 characters, as the writers had to shove them all in a 3 part episode, and they needed to be advertised and rushed out.

Windcharger and maybe Hauler from season 1
    Skids from season 2
Tailgate and Swerve from season 3
A bunch of guys who didn't get speaking lines in season 4

Also a lot of characters who have no fictional appearances in the G1 toyline unless they became a meme like that yellow crane guy.

Also, nobody has mentioned this guy, but Springer. Seriously, he is just a non-entity and I just don't think he adds anything to any story he's in (haven't read his stuff in the Marvel UK comics, so I reserve judgement). Hell, a perfect example is the Sunbow cartoon. Most of the time he appeared, he had just a generic filler role, and whenever he had an important role, the other characters always were more dynamic than he was, making him look even more boring and one-note than he already is (seriously, in FFOD, I was having more fun with Arcee's remarks and humor due to how much of a bore Springer is and in Nightmare Planet, I was honestly more into Razorclaw's "don't give a shit" attitude).

But he's clearly not forgettable given how often you bring him up.
