Here's the progression.
I made a backpack based off of gatchaman's design in radicons. Makes use of a broken classics jetfire. Gave my superion a bt of bulk in the back and some nice cannons that fit over the shoulders. Once my kit that has the new addons comes in and I can persuade chroma to sell me a neck and head kit, ill make my chest piece and post it. I plan to make a drone out all of those parts.
What was the mod to the crotch area?
I think I understand what you're asking... The red crotch is part of the DMY Superion kit.
Hey Chroma, take a look at the crazy devy superion head, maybe use that for the head on this project?
I believe you could try selling your kit through a 3rd party company such as X-Transbots (like Echo did) or maybe Dr. Wu. You could cut a deal with them, avoiding your design being ripped off, and you could also offer the kit pre-painted and cast in plastic.
Honestly, I'd be happy if you would sell the kit as it is. It looks that awesome. There's no need to change the headsculp, which looks fantastic, and there is no need to change the proportions. This way, the head is not too big for people who just have the FP kit, and not too small for people who have the DMY upgrade. The proportions are the same of FP Menasor.
If your kit was offered at around USD20, I'd be all over it.
I second this motion man, i kinda put my chest plate on hold till you make this kit available for sale
Yeah, I am eagerly awaiting this.
i doubt the third party route will work out for me. first of all, we have software conflicts (i use software that is different than production people use) and second of all i doubt the demand for my kit is high; it's not easy to find superion or the fpj kits through the normal channels (legit ones at least)
head sculpt will need to be a tad beefier than now, at the very least i need to thicken the antennas as they are too thin are will snap off anytime
if i were to release this via shapeways (i will prolly do it if there is enough demand), it will for sure cost more than 20USD, since i plan to make other things for this kit as well, including kneecaps and a larger gun/weapon or maybe other stuff if people have requests.
i doubt i can make the thighs any taller unfortunately; i did some stability tests last night and the torso is just too heavy and will just bend over (because of silverbolt's robot mode knees) if i pull the thighs all the way out
on another note, this may be very cost-prohibitive as it is one big piece of plastic, but anybody fancy a ramp shield for superion?
Do a few releases together.
A head/shoulder set on Shapeways.
A hand/knee/whatever set.
A weapon/ramp set.
If we want it all, we'll buy three different Shapeways items. If we don't, we'll buy what IS wanted.
Personally, I'm down for the head and would love to purchase one. I'm not so sure about the other stuff.
i prefer releasing one full kit once i get everything done. creating separate print jobs and separate shipping costs does not seem logical (i live in canada, shipping aint cheap for us here)
I'd pay at least $20 for that head. Looks great.
I, personally, would not like a shield/ramp. But that's just me.
Im super excited about this kit, it even got me to pick up the dmy kit
if you are taking votes, no shield for me,
I also would like to restate the desire for a just head/neckpiece set
Looking great and cant wait to see more
alright alright, i MAY consider selling it on shapeways, if there is enough demand. make yourself heard if you want it to happen
guess i will ditch the ramp shield idea for now
on another note, doing some random brainstorming at the moment, thinking of making use of the leftover energon parts.
shoulder cannons: yay or nay?
there are 2 minicon ports behind the shoulders where the energon connectors are, maybe i can make something to attach the energon weapons
Yay for me..
Nay for me, Check out gatchamans cannon design, the cannon pic had a good idea, but Bigger is Better, I pretty much boxed up my energon parts when i got my FK KO kit. For those that are curious, its not a bad kit, little super glue here and there and its pretty damn nice
unfortunately, while gatchaman's custom looks great, not everybody has a junker jetfire readily available to hack with. if i were to sell this kit on shapeways or what not, i will want to make the process as painless as possible for everyone (save for painting the parts, which i am totally helpless with) and that includes using readily-available parts. snap-on, done. sure i can model a big ass cannon but the cost will likely drive people away in the first place
but of course, if you have bigger ambitions, by all means you can arm him to the teeth too
That looks great.
Yay if it is easy.
Nay if it is a lot of work for you.
