This art was done by one of the main guys of the anime, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt from GAINAX. This is in reference to episode 7 called 'Trans-homers', which is filled with TF references out of the wazoo. I seriously recommend that episode, which is dubbed by FUNimation (Although I must warn you, it is NSFW).

I was impressed to find out that in the Japanese version the original voices for the Japnaese dub reprised their roles.
Also there's a looooot of nice cameos in there.

They're shoulder cannons. There's nothing phallic or nipple-like about it. They're on her SHOULDERS. Male robots with shoulder cannons are grabbing on them all the time. Are you just hunting for things to complain about?

I love seeing new Transformers Animated artwork. I smiled at the Masterforce Animated and LOLed at the disappointing look on Ghost Prowl's face.

He's actually not far off. Again, if people watched the anime, then people would understand the context.

Probably because Hasbro doesn't publish books, so it's more of a "why doesn't IDW?" question.

Can we talk about how Animated Ginrai looks like the cartoon version of Peter Venkman, and how that's totally okay? This whole book is beautiful and I need to own this.

Also, this is an unofficial book. So Hasbro wouldn't release it.

Holy crap. What do we have to do to get Shigeto Koyama as an official fill-in artist for More Than Meets The Eye?

I dunno, but FUND IT. :O Forget what the article lists as his exploits, guy did design for Eureka Seven, the movie, *and* AO, he's already proven himself as far as I'm concerned.

I'm looking at Airachnid and I keep thinking her head looks like a jester's hat. I mean look at it.

Only for this piece, really, because Milne drew her head crest more horizontal. Her show design is clearly inspired by Maleficent.

I wonder how well Hasbro working with the Gurren Lagann people would go. Firstly, could they even afford it? I figure lauded anime studios don't work cheap, but I don't know how expensive Prime was to animate. Second, it's not exactly gone very well whenever Hasbro has tried directing a Japanese studio for a cartoon that goes with a toyline. The studios have tended to at some point just stop listening to Hasbro and everything goes off kilter, like Beast Hunters with its toy line or the whole of Cybertron. Maybe these guys would have enough reverence for the brand to not go headstrong? I don't know.

If Airachnid showed up in IDW with a playfully psychopathic personality similar to DC Comic's Harlequin, I wouldn't mind that at all. :D
