why would they let Optimus Prime have flames?
Why would they let Devastator have gigantic swinging junk?
Why would they let several characters be borderline offensive racial stereotypes?

Because they didn't have much if any veto power/say on those, and Michael Bay's gonna Michael Bay.

(I believe I read on here or somewhere that they renegotiated their deal with Paramount and get more of a say in things now)

I appreciate your OCD tendencies to make sure everyone has the facts straight but it is okay to take the L every now and then and be the one getting corrected. It shows character. And if you are being honest you dont count the day wave 1 first hit shelves until the day wave 5 hit. You have to give time for wave 5 to get out to the masses. You should count it from the day wave 1 siege hit until the day wave 1 Earthrise hit. That was 14/15 months. Which that makes sense if we believe they pulled a wave forward from ER.

Right. The respective bargaining positions of Paramount and Hasbro changed dramatically between TF1 and BB.

Going into TF1, it was a borderline fallow brand (especially in the mainstream) and Hasbro has never had a successful movie. Hasbro had to not only deal with a movie studio but also an extremely powerful “final cut” Director.

Now, Paramount can’t buy a hit, Bay has moved on, Hasbro’s market cap (I have to guess) has increased dramatically, and TF has proven itself to be a very viable franchise (at a time when Paramount has been left behind in that area by everyone, particularly Disney).

Generally speaking, for news related stuff on this site, the moderators say small comic shops don't count when it comes to waves hitting US retail because not every one has access to Billy Bob's Comic Emporium (made up name :p ) in hillbilly Arkansas. I was just going with that line of thinking. Like I said, it may have come out early, but that doesn't change how it was scheduled. It wasn't scheduled to be a 15 month line, and even taking into consideration the early release at the end of November 2018, it would still only be like 13 months and 1 week. Which also doesn't contradict anything I have said

If I remember correctly, outside of Prime and Megatron the rest of the robot cast was designed first and named second. They had the cars they were allowed to use and then Hasbro came in and said "Here's who's names we want you to use."

It's why you hear them so rarely in the movie. Because outside of a scant few they weren't named in the script until very late...at which point they're not going to rewrite the entire script to constantly name them.

Sell CW/TR 86 cast if you even want to make a single cent off them in the aftermarket. Only one will not be remade.

Is Perceptor the one not getting remade? (Also would you count Blaster as being part of the 86 cast?)

As in the entire cast of the 86 movie (everyone who appeared in it, even if they were introduced previously in the cartoon), or just those who appeared in it for the first time?

I'm still gonna hold onto my CW/TR cast but am definitely excited to see what these figures end up like. I'll definitely be getting Kup and Galvatron, as I collect all the mainline figures I can of them.

Call me crazy, but I'm really hoping another Nautica is made from the Studio Series Blurr if he looks quite similar to his Titans Return version.

Honestly I'd like to see all of the characters that were put into that line remade without the gimmick at some point. :lol

More specifically, sell them to me if you've got Grand Scourge, Impactor, or Bluestreak. ;)

There's always a market of people who prefer the previous version for whatever reason. No worries there. I even found a buyer for Universe Galvatron!

But it's great to know that almost everyone from the movie cast is coming!

Ok, so I ignored Titans Return for the most part, so does anyone have a list of what '86 characters were in those lines?
