I am stunned. Why are the asians getting this? Is there even a market for TFs in China, where knockoffs are in every store, totally legally?

Darnit, I need Swerve and Hot Spot, and all the Legends. The Prime toys do not interest me much - and I am sure Rumble will be made for the US/European market too. Wheelie is a very strange idea, and so is G2 Megatron from Bludgeon, neither really resemble the originals.

Sure, there's a market for TFs in China, where DOTM grossed $145 million USD, after all. That's 1/5 of its total take, worldwide!

I am not talking about the movie, but about the toys. Most of China's populace is still very very poor, financially, and India.... yeah, I have been there.
Just makes me wonder why they get all these exclusive toys, most of which are straight-out G1 hommages that only people who saw the G1 toon/comic will get, IE the collector market (like the legends toys). Did Hasbro review their sales and realise they had a bigger market in Asia?
It is all the more vexing that they get these toys, while all we get are Prime and Botshots, and not many of those... while they get Prime, Bot Shots AND these.

Now I am in the uncomfortable postion of either buying them for expensive prices, or to wait until 2013 to see whether Hasbro intends to sell them to the west as well.

Btw, Voyager Breakdown looks cool. No hammer or seeker rocket, though, which is a pity.

The fact that I saw this pic while checking the facebook, and did not realise this was even a combiner, says a lot about the Prime designs... Seriously, they just put panel on top of panel there. At first I thought this was meant to be a Skyfire hommage...

^ For god's sake, they are repaints, not the next wave of new-mold Generations. There's nothing to explain. It's also really painful watching you try and decide that China is too full of poor people to buy Transformers or something.

There really aren't that many Megatrons who are green tanks. And a green tank is pretty far off from a gray gun. When I first saw Armada Megatron I thought "oh, I guess Megatron's always gonna be the green tank now." (I had never seen the RiD toys and I thought of Beast Wars as a seperate thing.)

At any rate, it is a minor point, not really worth arguing.

Though, I also think it's interesting that all three of the Megatrons I think the piece may be homaging do not have the usual cannon-on-the-arm. Just as the Bludgeon mold doesn't.

Maybe not a bigger market, but a big one that maybe Hasbro hasn't been paying enough attention to. There's a lot of people in China who want to buy toys for their kid, and let's not forget that parents often buy stuff for their children that they couldn't have when growing up. The same goes for collectors, buying stuff for themselves. As for G1, the reason is the same as anywhere. Transformers was big in China in the 1980s - and the toys were highly desired and hard to get. Pent-up demand then = collector interest now.

The quantity of KOs we're seeing may have a lot to do with market undersupply.

Here's something to read on this topic:

^ I think that's where I'm going to buy them. If not BBTS, Robot Kingdom should certainly stock them.

Any repaint of any Classiverse or ClassiLegends fig is welcome. Reminds me about your customs, though. I need to find a Tomahawk head.

It's been mentioned... though now that we have a slightly more detailed shot of that head, I think Hasbro has made a conscious attempt to style it in such a way as to work for Gears or Swerve. It has the overall roundness of Gears' head, but subtle echoes of Swerve's central head crest on the helmet. I expect we'll get Gears out of this mold eventually.

Hotspot using the Inferno mold is a good choice

I wouldn't call it a great choice, but it certainly is the obvious one.

Has anyone with Hasbro connections inquired as to WHY we won't see these on American shores?
