This is my first post here so be gentle.... Anyways, I was just watching the original animated Transformers film. Lots of fun to watch, and it will always be known for killing off Optimus Prime, Starscream, and various others in the original cast.... However, there were many characters from seasons 1 & 2 that did NOT appear in the movie and did not return for Season 3. And when you take into account that there were 20 years between Season 2 & the movie, there is a long stretch of time that is unaccounted for. Is it possible that a large number of those characters were killed between Season 2 & the movie, possibly during the Decepticon's take over of Cybertron? Off the top of my head, these are the characters that disappeared following Season 2 and never appeared again: Mirage, Sideswipe, Bluestreak, Trailbreaker, Gears, Skyfire, Hoist, Grapple, Tracks, Red Alert, Skids, Smokescreen, and the only Decepticon Buzzsaw And then there were a good number of characters that did appear in the movie, but only briefly, and their fates were unknown. Shockwave, Frenzy, Reflector, Inferno, Hound, Sunstreaker It makes me wonder...how many of them died prior to the movie, or possibly during and we just didn't see it? I mean Shockwave could have very well been killed by Unicron at the end of the movie (which I believe was originally scripted to happen) And then towards the end of the series you have The Return of Optimus Prime & The Rebirth. The final five episodes featured some pretty massive battles. In the case of "Return" it stretched across the universe and had to result in some massive casualties. One in particular that I have to note is that Sky Lynx mentioned Wheelie as being one of the ones that was severely damaged by Superion....but we do not see him along with the others that were repaired in Part 2...DID WHEELIE DIE!!!! That is a Transformers fan's dream come true. But then in Rebirth we have a massive Decepticon attack on Cybertron that stretches over the entire 3 Parter. Now most of the story follows the adventures on Nebulos, but how many casualties were lost during the big attack on Cybertron. The Aerialbots in particular come to mind because they were shown being blasted out of the sky by the Combaticons (come to think of it they got their asses kicked all throughout the 3 parter) and then that's the last we see of them. So basically my point is, has anybody else thought about this? I've always wondered about alot of it, especially many of the old characters that just disappeared following Season 2. Obviously the reason was the direction of the Toy Line, which is also why so many were killed off, but witnin the context of the show, I've always wondered about. And the idea of Wheelie being dead makes me a little happy. Not going to lie about that.
hundreds have wondered this, and discussed it. And basically, you get to believe what you wish since there's nothing to prove it one way or the other.
I would assume they all survived but who knows? It is always interesting to speculate on what really happened to them.
I always though the golden rule was if u didnt see the body, then they werent really dead. And not even then sometimes in TF and certain daytime soaps. JL
I think an excellent comic series would be "Transformers: The Lost Years" and chronicle the adventures between season 2 and the movie... Lots of potential, and you can pretty much do anything but kill off the ones in the movie and seasons 3+ (or more if you count Japan continuity)...
ya know? Every time someone speculates on what the next cartoon should be I bring up this same idea. You could also include anybody you want, if you assume everyone in the movie and S3 were alive before the movie, just not on Earth. We could see Magnus and Elita-1 fighting a gorilla war against Shockwave, then Megatrons return and conquest. The Autobots fleeing to their only refuge, Earth. Where they build Autobot City and make plans to retake their homeworld, starting with it's moons... The possabilities are truely endless.
I love that idea for a Comic book series. Its a lost part of the Transformers Universe that is ripe with Storyline potential and like its been said, you can pretty much do whatever you want, even kill some of those characters that never showed up. The best part about it would also being able to see how guys like Hot Rod, Kup, Springer, Ultra Magnus, Blur, & Arcee became part of the Autobot Campaign on Earth. I remember when I first saw the movie as a kid, I just sat there thinking "Where the hell did these guys come from?" And they could even show them establishing Autobot City & the two Moon Bases. They could even explain why certain characters were absent from the movie. Like Omega Supreme. The real reason he wasn't there was because the film was written before he was introduced, but in the mind of someone watching the show, they had to think why didn't they send him after Devestator during the attack on Autobot City. For some reason I always envisioned the Decepticons keeping Autobots prison on Cybertron and that is where alot of the characters were (Aerialbots, Protectobots, Omega, etc.)
Okay here goes: Gears was shown on Moonbase 1 at the start of the movie, since only Jazz and Cliffjumper were shown getting out of Unicron we can assume that Gears died. Bluestreak was outside of the city with Huffer. Huffer was confirmed dead so I assume Bluestreak is dead too. Sunstreaker, Hound, Trailbreaker, Grapple, Inferno, Sideswipe, Hoist, Beachcomber and a few others I am forgetting never appear after the movie so they are probably dead. Shockwave actually got killed in a deleted scene or something, so did Red Alert and Mirage. In the original story boards, Smokescreen was dead instead of Wheeljack, there is nothing to contradict him actually getting killed so...
Hound and Sunstreaker are on the shuttle behind Prime when he transforms and makes his last run. (If I remember correctly, one of them is also on Earth as part of Kup's road crew at the beginning of the film.)
I know that, but they never appear again so I assume they were killed when Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps attacked.
This does come up every now and then, but it's one of those things, so don't worry about it and welcome to TFW. It's pretty safe to say that most of the first series minibots bought it, Brawn, Windcharger, etc. The 1986 lineup was almost entirely repaints of them as new characters, so it would stand to reason that all the "originals" were killed; with Cliffjumper and Bumblebee being the exceptions. Similarly, it's probably not too far off to assume that most of the original Autobot cars met the same fate, again, with exceptions like Jazz and I think Skids (I'm fuzzy, but I recall reading that Skids was in Five Faces of Darkness as a background character). Personally, I'd like to believe that Smokescreen survived and was with Omega, but that's more me then anything else. Red Alert and Mirage were storyboarded as being carried into battle on Ultra Magnus' car carrier and later killed by Devastator in the battle. On the Decepticon side, Shockwave is generally believed to have died when Unicron slammed in hand into Cybertron, demolishing the large control tower (which is generally fan believed to be the same tower Megs and all watched the recording of the Autobot shuttle launch.) Bizarrely, you'd have thought that all the seekers would've died off in the aftermath, due to the introduction of the Sweeps, but Ramjet, Dirge, and Thrust all show up again in later episodes, same with the Insecticons. As for Buzzsaw, he had a whopping three appearances (out of 65 episodes) beforehand, his disapearance in season three probably just means that he had even less to do.
I know I'll probably get attacked for this but here goes... The Dreamwave comics started off as a story to bridge season 2 and the movie. It eventually goes in its own direction but you could look at it as explaining what happened to Sky/jetfire, how omega came to Earth, how the Autobots started building Autobot city and where Superion, Omega, Bruticus, Defensor and Menasor were during the great battle in the movie. Its not canon, but some are good enough ideas to make me a happy guy.
In my defence it was late when I posted, an I'm a terrible speller. In fact I'm happy just to have spelled it right, and used in the wrong context.
When was that? If it was during one of the Japanese series then I don't count it since it had Wheeljack in it when he was clearly shown dead in the movie....although I suppose Hound was never shown dying.
they were all removed by unicron from a different multiverse so they could not take part in the fight against unicron...he feared these transformers the most of all those on the G1 cartoon!
