Would you like to see the Pretender Concept Explored more in TFA ?, we saw the two fantastic homages to the G1 Pretenders in the last episode of TFA

If you havent seen them this is what they looked like
    http://nkelsch.deviantart.com/art/Transformers-Animated-Pretend-79520310

They were Meltdowns "faild" experiments in making "Human Transformers"

So Is TFA the place for Pretenders to be rebourne ??

Perhaps Meltdown joins with the Decepticons and between them they created Pretenders .. Monsters with Robots inside.

Or Perhaps you would like to see more of these "human Pretenders"

Or were you happy with just that little nod to Pretenders in the show and are happy to leave it at that ???

I personally think the two nodded at in the episode is enough. I'd rather Animated not go in that direction, as it's doing really well as it is.

No pretenders please. The Homage was enough.

As much as I liked the pretender homage (and the old G1 Pretenders) I think they should remain these "monsters" with no robots inside. Makes more sense.

Pretenders helped usher in the beginning of the end for G1 with cheaply made toys based on a concept that made little sense. Hopefully they learned from the mistakes of the past and are only paying homage to pretenders in animated.

Wow. Never thought my first post on this site would be about Pretenders!

Not really ... sales started slipping before then, it was a great concept let down by a cheep exicution in the toys .. plus with no cartoon to promote them they seemed tagged on ...

The UK comics are a great place to see the Pretenders as characters .. the concept is also a great one to IMO ..

Im hoping Animated breathes more life into Pretenders in the Future :)

I'm fine with the homage for now.

It would be interesting to see an update on the gimmick in the Classics or Animated aesthetic, though.

Bludgeon would be awesome as an addition to the cast. I'd love to see more of the Pretenders, but in the same style so far. Mutants, or perhaps aliens?

Much as I like Pretenders, I don't think this (Animated, least not this early in its run) is the best place for a full revival of the concept. Stick with occasional homages, for now.
If they're going to revisit the Pretenders (particularly characters like Bludgeon and Thunderwing) I'd want to see it happen in toy form in the upcoming Universe line.

My thread about Waspinator covers my belief on Pretender tech evolving into the BW techno organics but that said I would really like Bludgeon to be part of the the show not as a pretender but as a normal TF who turns into a tank but his robot mode combines aspects of his G1 shell and robot mode think it would look awesome.

    Colossus Roads = Stranglehold

Read his profile, Stranglehold was an international wrestler.

And then we get these two.

If we see *ANYTHING* I bet Meltdown upgrades himself into a more BLUDGEON appearance. And I think we will see the pretenders as henchmen in the future but not much more.

It is clear that Meltdown's schtick is 'Human' transformers which means his whole thing will be pretenders IMHO.

That would be interesting indeed. I'm liking the whole Animated Pretender concept. It makes sense as they are humans "pretending" to be transformers. Since the first two were seemingly done against their will, I can see them continuing as monsters. Rhodes so far, seems to be the only one who can transform at will. I'd like to see a couple of good Pretenders pop up who turn on Meltdown. (Like Cloudburst and Waverider)

How can you poorly execute a plastic shell with a lackluster Transformer inside that didn't really turn in to anything except a "FUTURISTIC _______ THAT HAS NO REAL RELEVANCE TO ANYTHING ON EARTH!!!" ???

That's why Transformers failed. It stopped being relevant to kids. It went from "robots in disguise" to "CRAZY MUDDAFUGGIN ROBOTS WHO TRANSFORM IN TO SUCK!"

Oh I agree the execution of the G1 toys was crappy ... However the concept of a Pretender is great and there the missing link between G1 and BW ... Also had they not taken over the line been in the cartoon and been more like the Classic Pretenders the way they are viewed may well have differed from the Stick robots that folded in half ...

Im also starting to warm more to nkelsch's idea for Pretenders in TFA

Beast Wars were simply Pretender Beasts who broke the shell into robot-mode kibble. Carnivac=Cheetor and Snarler=Razorbeast. Hell, Bugly=Waspinator!

I'd still like to see Bugly appear as Prowl's evil, corrupt Circuit-Su sensei.

Japanese Pretenders were actually cool. The concept that they were Decepticons who came to earth at the dawn of human civilization and they became the monsters in our myths was actually a really good idea. Sea Monsters, Minotaur, Vampire... It was great.

If we had gotten a US TV show to go with the shells there is a good chance they would have been more widely accepted. But Japanese Animation was not 'liked' as much at 1991.
