I'd be WAY more into Marvel comic decoes for Megatron, Soundwave, etc. than cancelled G2 Arctic Camo decos and such!

They should just go ahead and do Megs in gun mode. Release G2 colors for the mainline release, which should satisfy all the toy gun laws, and release the G1 colors in the Selects series with the orange tips, which satisfies federal toy gun laws and you can control distribution into places like NYC that have more stringent local toy gun laws. i.e., no G1-colored Megs to NYC addresses.

 

@Purple Heart pointed out in the other thread, megatrons listing says E voyager E Megatron, which means it very well could be an earthrise voyager energon megatron

 

Don't forget about the Mercenary faction. Since none of the voyagers we know about fit in that category (except maybe the Quintesson?), I could see Octane taking that spot.

 

That’s cool. I’m glad many of you enjoy him.

For me the feet articulation really hurt the robot mode, the rest of the articulation was subpar (especially when compared to siege Optimus), the backpack and neck panel were annoying, and the proportions and sculpt didn’t really look right to me. Specifically, his chest was way too wide and the sculpt doesn’t match the level of detail seen on the rest of the siege figures. Maybe it’s just that I received him after Optimus and hound, but I’ve been hoping for a replacement since he was released.

 

Oh he definitely has his faults and limitations but compared to all megatrons before him, he is by far the best mainline version in keeping with the g1 aesthetic. Even g1 megatron didn't look like g1 megatron.

Obviously not MP Megatron in proportions but then MP is a completely different segment and scale.

 

Or "Earth Megatron."

 

I felt the same way after I opened mine right after Prime. Hoping the new one is just as good as Prime with a head sculpt like the CW leader.

Another Megatron? OK I guess. Lots of speculation here about the mysterious "E" on his listing but wouldn't the logical conclusion be "Earth," since Starscream's new toy is also referred to as "Earth Starscream?" As much as I'd like an update on Energon Megatron, I think that's unlikely-- that would be a better idea to do as a pretool/repaint of a Galvatron figure, which if I had to guess would show up in part 3 of this trilogy. I'm also not sure about the speculation of him being a Triple Changer. It's certainly possible, and it does seem that Triple Changing was likely an intentional sub-theme for Earthrise given how it's likely that Astrotrain and Apeface were pulled from Earthrise to bulk up the end of Siege, if this Megatron speculation is true then that would mean there would have been four different Decepticon triple changers in Earthrise (Astrotrain, Apeface, Megatron, Blitzwing).

Honestly, if we're going to get another Megatron toy at the price point, I'd like to see a Beast Wars Megatron. He did spend some time on Earth after all... I don't think we need *another* grey tank Megatron after we just got a pretty decent one.

Why do anything? Given what we've seen of Earthrise thus far, it'd be weird for Megatron to suddenly be a space jet...but then again Apeface and Snapdragon aren't exactly "earth Jets" either so the "earth modes this time" theme of Earthrise is already going out the window.

The only reason I'd see Megatron being his Energon body (or literally anything other than yet another G1ish design) is if it's because they found a way to pre-tool him from somebody else. Because there's a lot of compromises they'd have to take to make him a voyager that they haven't really shown any sign of doing yet with WfC. Save for CDF Hotshot, and that was a Selects release.

(Also, suggesting Energon Megatron as a Voyager makes me mad because there's yet *another* way they could've given Megatron a combiner torso during Prime Wars and this time you wouldn't even need to change the wave layout or come up with a new mold)
