Someone’s probably said it already, but an Energon Megs could be easily retooled into G1 Galvatron.

Agreed, easy retool to galvatron or a hairdryer.

Or even a repaint into an energon Galvatron.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I’ve always found Megatron turning into a gun to be extremely silly ‍♂️

    So, I hope he’s not a gun.

    Completely agree.

In the g1 cartoon it was a cool concept due to mass shifting so had a genuine purpose. Decepticons could fly so alt modes were inconsequential.

As a toy though, g1 megatron was dire especially in bot mode; although in gun form it did atleast have some human scale playability. Future non mp gun iterations of megatron like classics bar nostalgia are equally meh.

Megatron as a tank, truck, jet, combat vehicle etc not only makes logical sense but offers great toy potential.

I really love the Siege Megatron, but do wish he was painted silver like the CW one. If they can get that right with the Earthrise version then I will definitely buy it!

Looking at the links, it seems these are not the usual Walmart listings.. does Megatron have a corresponding Walmart listing at this time? Not that it's at all likely to have a picture or anything, but I'm curious all the same.

They didn’t have much choice as all toys in 1984 and 1985 existed before Transformers. They needed a toy that was comparable in height to Optimus Prime.

Megatron’s iconic appearance derives from his 1984 toy. If the Decepticon leader had used a different toy, he would have looked completely different and probably a different name as well.

If Earthrise Megatron ends up being just another G1 version with a slightly more Earthy tank, it's a hard pass. I'm not particularly fond of the Siege one to begin with, and I'm not playing Hasbro's game of "let's just make a better one every year", to which what's even the point of ever buying something if it's immediately going to be "outclassed"?

If it's G2 (even if they paint it silver like G1, as long as it's the G2 design and shape) I'll definitely get it. Even an Energon Megatron to (kinda) go with the Cybertron "Galaxy Upgrade" Optimus would be preferable.

    I'm confident he'll be a G2 version of Megs...

Well...at least as confident as someone with no effing idea can be in this situation. :lol

Except they've always done this? It's not a new thing.

I mean, they've always done updates, but for the longest time they were spaced out several years between. Now it's a yearly thing and they keep giving us ones that are "just a little more G1".

I mean, look at 2006 to 2014 and the only Voyager G1 Optimus we had was the Classics figure. Now we're getting a new one every year, and they started out being different gimmicks with CW (which I wasn't fond of, to be honest), but now we keep getting ones every year that are just "a little bit better". How many more versions of slavish G1 designs can they expect us to buy in such a short time?

I love having accurate G1 mainline toys, but I don't like how their handling the releases. I just bought all of the Seekers and "Datsuns", and we're already looking at having another, more accurate set just a year away!

Megatron was a Targetmaster before Targetmasters were a thing.

Considering Hasbro tries to get at least 2 uses out of every mold...

    Megatron could be a triple-changing monkey (in G2 colors) :) .

I'm not a fan of the "Milk" plastic they used on Apeface. It looks pretty awful to me. However, if the Snapdragon is decent I may get both and the break out the pin remover and airbrush.

Megatron doesn't have enough G1 iterations to be "over with it".

I like the Siege one, but I want one more go at it; that or G2 Megatron.

I will definitely be interested in the Earthrise Voyager Megatron provided he is far better than the Siege one.
