I love how people are judging the movie before its even finished and taking this news so dang seriously, complaining that 'if they make any jokes about ____ i'll walk out!" and things like that. It makes for a funny thread. If we're going to judge the movie and hate on it already, let's wait for it to be FINISHED first, no?
I think what you guys are forgetting is that Bay didn't write ROTF. The direction wasn't half bad in that movie, it was the shitty-as-hell writing that dragged it down. But now we've got a new writer. Perhaps Kruger has a different sense of humor, even a highbrow one perhaps! Nah, who am I kidding? ROTF was a box office success. Kruger's just going to give us more of the same because that's what the studio wants. Both of these posts excellently display my feelings on the 'ROTF should get a pass because the G1 cartoon sucked' debate.
(OMEGA SUPREME) "COMEDY UNNECESSARY. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IMPERATIVE. PLOT CRITICAL." Seriously though, I don't think that more comedy is what a transformers movie needs. I would be more in favor of the movie being a few minutes longer and taking an albeit small amount of time to explain a few things. I know that they have to cater to a large audience, but like the old saying goes, "Get to the point."
That is exactly counter to what we were initially told about the movie... My hopes for 3 just sank a lot.
I really hope this is not true. The last thing I care to see in the new movie is more of Michael Bay's comedic failures. The last movie was almost unwatchable in that respect. The man should stick with what he knows about and write explosions and action sequences. Here's hoping that this movie does not turn into a Three Stooges of Cybertron Potty humor festival. Avolow.
for those who keep saying, "well, as long as the humor is not like ROTF....." ROTF earned astronomical amounts of money. Why in God's name would Bay change a "winning" formula? No, my friends, we are in for one huge clusterfu{k of a movie. At this point, I would rather it be a bust at the box office but at least try to maintain some respectability. The franchise should be trying to compete with "lord of the rings", not G-force (the REALLY bad cg movie about guinea pig spies)
bat also said he doesnt like 3d he will never put transfromers into 3d not one scene look how well that turned out
How can people still say "More comedy? Well It'll be ok if they stay away from the ball jokes." or "I wuz ther and the hole plac luved the farts! They wer laffing so hard! Teh comady wuz great!" or "There has always been comedy in Transformers." We have had 2 movies and we know what to expect. The old robots will fart fire, the young robots will poop/pee. The evil robots will drool and the humans will probably do all 3 beacuase this is Bay. This time it will be in 3D. Just because a bunch of idiots laugh at something does not make it funny.
no. I watched as the first two pieces of $hit ended up being as bad or worse than news snipets just like this indicated. I completely reserve the right to judge this movie prior to completion. Slighly unrelated note: To date, I still have not watched ROTF. Looks like I will not be watching this "movie" either.
More comedy? Please tell me thay learned something from the last film. I was already scared when I saw that robot head with hair. Hair? Really?
Look at what Transformers was up against in 2009 and it might tell us something else about the future. X-Men 3 was horrible but people said it would not have any effect on the franchise since X-Men 3 made $459 million. Wolverine comes out and makes $373 million. Terminator 3 was seen as a bad film and made $433 million. Terminator Salvation makes $371 million. I know some people say it doesn't matter that Revenge of the Fallen was bad enough to almost sweep the Razzies because it made so much money. But just because you made money off a film that everyone wasn't happy with doesn't mean you can expect the boat loads of cash the next time.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won't be going to see TF3 unless it ranks above 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, the same as any other movie, now.
Hey, I'm all for comedy. Every Ahnuld movie would just be another violent '80s flick without the one-liners.
