Chinese 'Transformers' Sponsor Filing Suit; Film Said To Beat 'Avatar' (Reports) - Deadline.com I'm pretty sure Transformers 5 finale will either be set in Washington DC or New York now. . . .
I really wouldn't mind things going sour in China just so American studios would be forced to make better films to try to lure more Americans to the movie theater instead of saying oh well we will make up for not drawing Americans in by shipping the film to China.
1 of the cooler aspects of the tf films is all the locations we're treated to... California, Chicago, China, Diego Garcia, Egypt, Jordan, Nevada, Middle East, the Moon, New Jersey, Qatar, Russia, Shanghai, Texas, Utah, Washington DC TF5 will almost certainly have a new place as well.
This is what has worried me about the move to chinese audiences. The studios just see it as easier money rather than having to work at making a good movie. Also encourages them to continue forcing 3D into films as Asia seems to love that.
I really hope the next TF movies will not have anything to do with China. Maybe Hollywood will learn something from this and will stop this whole "let's please the Chinese audience by throwing random Chinese shit on screen" type of strategy.
I really enjoyed the Chinese element in this film. In fact, I wish there had been more. I was hoping for more locations in Hong Kong for sure. The whole product placement thing though is a bit silly. The Chinese companies are acting like children with some of these complaints but its all good in the end I guess. I do get what the Wulong guys are saying though, about how it looks like it is just over the hill from Hong Kong lol.
Well, I was about to face desk, but I can't due to the big hole in it from last time. So I'll just do a standard facepalm... But seriously? Suing over the fact that the name wasn't in the movie??
It seems like the Chinese companies, who probably are quite new to the whole thing despite all the legal contracts negotiated etc., just aren't au fait with how these things work and really do seem to have their products in the middle of the screen with a flashing sign and an arrow point to it. Clearly Oreo, Chevrolet and Victoria's Secret paid a hell of a lot more money for their product placement though. Money really does talk.
There have been some great scenic vistas for sure but, I want to see TF5 in a fully new place! Not On Earth.
