Michael Keaton was by far the biggest shock I had upon pulling up Twitter.
My thoughts as well. I also liked the music...
It shouldn't, but sadly it could. Venom just proved to everyone that if two dozen easily impressed people are vocal enough about liking total eye roll schlock "because Term Herdyyy", this POS could theoretically get the same support as well.
The good news, though, is that Morbius is soooooo unknown to the general populous and such a nothing character even to most Spider-Man fans that this movie really doesn't have much of a draw. Add in the fact that 30 Seconds to Leto's last role (that anyone remembers) was a ridiculous Hot Topic version of the Joker, him being yet another comic book character that looks so stupid could actually work against him/this. Fingers crossed.
At least, he's don't shine in the sun.
People have pointed out vulture is wearing the same outfit he was wearing in jail at the end of homecoming. Looks like vulture broke out of prison! Did the scorpion break out also?
You know we're in for a subpar movie when the MCU connection is the only major talking point.
Alright, let's see how this checklist stacks up
Not really edgy music, but a pretty sinister Fur Elise...
Jared Leto as Nobel Prize Winner Scientist... Check
Some evil corporate guy... Probably hiding in this movie still
Girlfriend of Morbius looking horrified... Sorta when Morbius smashes the glass
Running from FBI.... Well the cops are there as well so I think this is going to happen
Monologue from Jared Harris... Sorta at the beginning
A glimpse of Morbius at the end... Called it
Part of me is proud but there were only so many ways the trailer could go.
In all seriousness, I think the movie could be interesting to watch. I do like how Morbius looks in the movie.
Jared Leto? Michael Keaton? Bats? Man, the new Batman movie is looking wild.
All joking aside, I really liked the trailer, which surprised me. My only Leto acting experience comes from his Joker portrayal and I just didn’t want more of that. But this looks like a good direction, masterfully adapting the source material. Loved the Spidey nods. I just wonder if this means that Sony is committing towards moving their Spider-Man properties into the MCU or if this is the first step toward pulling Tom Holland’s Spider-Man out. I’m hoping the former but fearing the latter. If the plan is to more solidify the Disney/Sony Spidey partnership, with the rumors of Holland’s potential role in Venom 2, I wonder where this could lead for the Symbiotic Sequel.
I'm betting Kevin was willing to let this happen so that he can try and avoid it later. I don't think he is willing to let Sony just throw a Marvel film into the MCU that he had no involvement with.
It looks to me like any other modern day vampire movie. I actually was bored with it to be honest. I think this will actually confuse casual fans going into it thinking Spider-Man fights vampires when he's not even in the movie at all.
I think enough people will see “made in association with Marvel” and the title “Morbius” to realize that this is yet another Marvel movie and not a “Spider-Man fights vampires” film. Unless the rest of the world is well and truly dense.
This is all I can think of
Yeah, it looks pretty good to me — worth a rental, at the very least.
Leto seems far more suited for this than he was Joker.
It may have been a generic trailer, but god damn is the Morbius fan in my cheering right now.
Man, it's amazing and hilarious how much mileage the Internet is getting over Sony putting in an image of Spider-Man wearing the incorrect suit. It'll probably be even more hilarious and amazing if they end up leaving it intact in the final movie.
I honestly barely recognized Jared Leto, but when I did I realized he is practically playing the rich replicant inventor dude from the Blade Runner sequel in the early parts of the trailer where he is still weak and disheveled.
I assume he has his fans, didn't he had his own comic too?
Frankly I enjoyed Venom, rewatched it even. So I am looking forward to this too, despite my last memory of Morbius being from the 1990s Spiderman toon where he had suckers at the end of his fingers.
The suckers were in his palms, actually. And as a villain, practically every other word out of his mouth was "Plasma!".
IIRC, in that show, his mutation eventually progressed to where he was even more of a bat-like creature, but he was stabilized such that he didn't need to constantly drain blood (Plasma!), and eventually hooked up with Blade to become his partner-in-crime.
Actually, he does have a few books to his name, including a new one currently going by Vita Ayala, but I'm not sure if any of them lasted particularly long or if they were just miniseries.
Separate names with a comma.
