Venomverse? So no interaction with Tom Holland?

So… there gonna be a new Spidey?

But I thought Venom to the MCU?

The Venom films arent in the MCU and if you are talking about the end of Let There be Carnage, Venom was returned to his universe before he had the chance to meet Tom Holland at the end of No Way Home

Now having said that, the MCU Vulture does show up in Morbius as it appears Strange breaking the barriers between universes in No Way Home kicked Toomes from the MCU into the Venomverse, so while right now there wont be Tom Holland interactions for now (its only a matter of time), we do have a character from Tom's universe interacting with these characters

I haven’t seen either Venom’s, and I was getting curious about Morbius before all the bad reviews hit.

Basically I’m done with the MCU, and I bought about getting on board Sony’s CU... but... I dunno.

How can they go after Spider Man if they aren’t in the same universe?

Yeah- I’m confused. Maybe I’ll just stick with the Snyder Cut...

Morbius and Venom arent after Spider-Man so far, especially since they havent meet him yet. So far these iterations of the characters have their ties with Spider-Man removed, like Venom for example, Eddie Brock doesnt lose his job because of Spdier-Man, he loses his job because he asked questions in an interview that he wasnt supposed to ask as he suspected this guy was doing some shady things, which pissed off his boss who fired him and resulting in his fiance leaving him as she worked for the guy Eddie was interviewing which lead to her getting fired and the symbiont came to earth with other symbiontes with the intent of taking over Earth, then he bonded with Eddie right away (instead of going to Peter first) and the symbionte came to care about its host and Earth and decided to betray its kind and protect the innocents on Earth from bad guys, so Venom doesnt have his vendetta against Spider-Man that the character is associated with, instead we are going straight into the Lethal Protector stories

And i wont be surprised either if Kraven desire to hunt Spider-Man is also removed when his solo film comes out

The only one that may be interested in getting back at Spidey is Vulture himself, given this is the same Vulture from the MCU displaced in the Venomverse as result of the events of NWH

Well, Vulture doesn’t seem interested in going after Peter. He’s already protected his identity.

So imagine that- all these Spider villains not interested in going after Spider Man.

Yeah, so far the thing seems to be Spider-Man himself gets to be in the MCU, but meanwhile Sony will make their own universe that consists of Spider-Man supporting characters, both villains and allies alike but without Spider-Man (but i do think we'll see a Spider-Man down the line, whatever its Tom Holland displaced into the Sonyverse or him playing a variant or a new actor altogether)

I love Morbius from the comics and really wanted to find something to like about this movie but there was nothing. it’s pretty dull and honestly forgettable. By the end of the movie I didn’t even care what happened.

I have not read any critic reviews or any posts in this thread besides the few above.

That must be a lonely fan club. In 30 years, you are the first person I've heard with a strong opinion in either direction. Everyone else I've ever read or talked to is completely indifferent to Morbius in the comics.

I'm not exactly surprised that the movie's turned out to be a dud, I was on some level hopeful for it (or at least more intrigued than I am about the latest MCU sludge) but it seems that was misplaced after all.

Oh well, Sonic 2 sounds like it turned out to be a fun time. ~

And that's the number one reason these movies are doomed to suck

Saw it today. I fail to see all the hate this movie gets, it was a perfectly serviceable hero/villain origin story. Yes, it wasn't very groundbreaking or special in any way, but it conveyed the desperation of Michael very well, and showed his compassion and humanity too in nice ways - loved the scene where he gives medical advice to the thug after he breaks his hand (and hey, finally, SMART thugs, who don't start shooting at the superpowered creature but immediately run away!)
Leto kicked it out of the park with his performance, I felt his desperation as he struggles with this illness every day, yet also tries to cure other sick people. Gotta say the artificial blood idea - which he discovered as a side-effect of his research - is something that we have real life search about and count be groundbreaking for medical science.
I also loved how the movie approached his transformation from a scientific standpoint. A bit like Peter Parker in the Raimi movies but even more detailed, since he is a scientist, and documents his new capabilities and dependencies expertly. I especially liked the sonic effects - far better than on Daredevil - as it shows how the sonar would work, and how he realizes he can ride the soundwaves and fly. The added puffy "sound smoke" effects when he fights was a nice touch and made him look more like a classic magical vampire.
Matt Smith was kinda obviously the villain from the moment we saw their meeting as kids, and how he wants the cure more than Michael, not caring about the strings attached. He was creepy and suave, but sadly a bit over the top, everyone laughed at the 'bathroom dance' scene.
There weren't many secondary characters - Martine was a servicable love interest and Jared Harris was great as always in his mentor role. I enjoyed the two FBI agents, Al Madrigal brought some much needed comedy into the movie with the holy water scene (though it was fun when Michael also pretends sunlight burns him). I liked how the FBI were not clueless idiots and not only quickly figured out Michael, but also that not all the murders were committed by him.
The final battle had some Dracula Unbound elements with the bats but was really well shot, loved the colors and the soundwave effects. I liked how Michael often wins because he uses his scientific knowledge.

The post-credits scenes felt super awkward and out of nowhere, my guess is that Sony is really adamant on making their own Spider-Man universe, even if they do not have Spider-Man. Perhaps they will introduce Miles Morales in live-action in this universe, or do something even more wild, like have Ben Reilly be Spider-Man? Guess we will see, with Madame Webb also getting her own movie, who knows.
Was annoyed when my brother's friend at the end said this was 3/10... To me this was a solid 6/10, I will probably watch it again in english once more this year, but it was not groundbreaking or awesome. 3/10 is something I would give to a completely disappointing boring mess, like R.I.P.D.

One thing I DID hate about the movie - completely unrealistic portrayal of vampire bats. They are shown like ravenous piranhas that would tear a man apart even in broad daylight. :D  In reality, they use their teeth and anticoagulant saliva to make small incisions on cattle and people at night, and lick the blood without being noticed.

Btw, I assume the reason Disney gave Vulture over to Sony is that they cannot really do anything with the whole "Tombs knows who Peter is" story after they have revealed his secret to everyone.
Also, do wonder why people were complaining how he got his glider suit - maybe the Tinkerer exists in this universe, maybe he hired someone else. It's not like that thing needed alien technology, it has earth-tech turbines and stuff.

Wow now that just makes things even more convoluted.
So how does this even work? They go back to the original timeline and a brand new alternate timeline is created for each of them? Meaning the one where Norman was cured will still have Otto turn into Doc Ock later? Even though here, Harry won't fund his research to kill Spider-Man as his dad is alive?
Y'know I am starting to agree with Kang. Maybe it is best if these timelines are pruned.
All this could have been avoided if instead of alternate timelines they just had alternate universes that exist independently of each other.

I never believe critics. Not because many of them are biased, but because no two people have the same taste and appreciation for movies. I mean, for example I was totally on the side of Angry Joe when he liked Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman - and otherwise, he often likes movies I utterly hated. Cinema Snob and Film Brain have some good reviews, but I cannot say I always agree with their opinions, either.
You can only judge something properly by seeing it. I have only watched Sonic recently because the trailers did not make me interested, and I was surprised how much I liked it, despite my own expectations. If I had just watched reviews, I would have probably never watched the movie myself.

    Could only find this guy:
Loxias Crown (Earth-616) | Marvel Database | Fandom
He is a Hydra scientist who eventually becomes a vampire after trying to research Morbius, and takes the name Hunger.

Morbius is more known for tussling with everyone from Spider-Man to Blade and the X-Men. He worked with the Lizard a few times, and has created a whole monster squad with other monstrous heroes.

I assumed it came out on March 31 everywhere? In Hungary it sure did.
On the contrary, we will only get Sonic 2 on April 7.

Well Feige did said when they renewed the Sony/Marvel deal for NWH that Spidey is the only hero that can cross cinematic universes, so we will see a Spidey here down the line, whatever its Miles or maybe Tom Holland we'll see

Prrety much yeah, as the rule at both the comics and in the MCU is that when you change the past you create a brand new universe, so the moment you cure them, you've changed the past or as they say in Loki, they've created a Nexus event, which means when they come back they've created a new universe/timelines for them to live the rest of their lives, so when Tobey comes back to his universe everything will exactly the same as it was when he left it, Otto and Norman are still dead and Flint is still Sandman. As they talk about in the movie the characters are going to be returned to their universe in the exact moment they left, so Norman for example is not returning to the present with Tobey, he's being returned back to 2002, but since he's no longer the Green Goblin, that will create a new universe

So yes in Norman's timeline Ock could maybe still turn into Doc Ock, unless now that Norman is there and is aware of what happens of Otto he tries to ensure things dont play out as they did in Tobey's timeline

Just got home from the movie and it wasn't terrible. In fact, the first third of the film was pretty damn good and made me think they were going to go the horror movie route with it. Unfortunately, it went downhill after that. Every scene with Matt Smith was absolutely dreadful. Smith was horrifying and phoned in every scene he was in. It's a shame because there were moments of greatness within.

And those post credit scenes are hands down the worst post credit scenes of any Marvel movie for they made no sense at all. This feels like a Marvel movie from the early 2000s rather than in the 2020s.

Way better than both Venom movies though.

    Um... hi...

It's not like I haven't said that a million times.

Just finished my screening. It was alright for the most part but did not stick the landing at all. And those credit scenes made no sense in terms of what’s already been established. Also had an idiot couple in front of me snapchatting the entire movie (and I mean the entire movie) so that didn’t help with the viewing experience.

Certainly worked for the rest of the crowd, cheering when the credits started rolling and absolutely going off for the post credit scenes. I feel like this will be another Venom case, where the critic score is low but the audience score is drastically higher
