Well I'm not done with any of my other customs, so why not start another? First step, parts gathering, down. And arms and head snaps right in place. Not sure how much of the legs I want to bring over. I love their detail, but need to make sure they will still fold up for the transformation.
So the legs are very similar in length, but the transformation looks like it won't allow me to use the CW ones straight. Too bad as it would avoid some of the terrible yellowing problems CV Arcee's thighs suffer. I'm Def using the kneecaps in some way, might hollow them and put them over the CV ones. Not sure on the shins. Torso is also funny how they both have pins running through the shoulder ball joints. Not sure how I'm going to mesh these parts, but I'm glad I'm not going to have to rely on CAD parts.
So I'm currently having some clearance issues, but getting close And I'm dropping the torso down a little already to get it to fit But I think the car mode is going to look great. Just need to figure out how to make those horn things to not get in the way of it transforming. There might be seperat sets for each mode
Ok what might look like a minor update was really a pain in the @$$. Sliding pin holding the torso on allows her to squish down for alt mode. Wheels have been thinned to fit arms. Forearms notched to fit transformation.
It feels like you've gone a very very long way to basically kitbash a Legacy Elita-1 - but it's still a remarkable job! I can't wait to see how you tie everything together at the paint/detail stage.
Ok, so I don't know if it's only me, but I want all the g1 fembots to have their own distinct bodies. I don't want the combiner wars where they were all mold mates. I have a plan for firestar that involves the TR Kup mold. That one will also be a very long way, but make something that looks like it transformed in the show.
Dude, that's awesome and I support the initiative fully - it's just kind of funny how the engineering you've worked out ends up being very close to Legacy E1... but it clearly works well enough for Hasbro, lol EDIT TO ADD: Oh dang, you could totally fake those wing/horn details on her shoulders that wind up on the rear wheels by just... putting them on the rear wheels and leaving them there. Nice.
Thin separating disc at a high but not too high speed. If I give it too much speed, the plastic gets gummy and warps. The disc helps keep lines straight because it is straight. I used to use my jewelers saw exclusively, but that's harder to make the lines not wander.
